After a wild rollercoaster ride over the past few weeks, Lucasfilm and Disney+ finished off its second full live-action Star Wars series with the final chapter of The Book of Boba Fett. Tying off stories for show regulars like Boba and Fennec Shand while expanding on plotlines from classic characters like Ahsoka Tano and Cad Bane, the seven-episode season wasn't lacking with action or drama.
Warning - The rest of this article contains spoilers for Chapter 7 of The Book of Boba Fett.
Following his widely celebrated transition from animation in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, bounty hunter Cad Bane made his mark in an old western-style standoff with Temeura Morrison's leading hero. Having already gravely injured Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth before his assault on Tatooine on behalf of the Pyke Syndicate, Bane's live-action debut became arguably the main event in "Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor."
That event came to an unexpected end when Boba Fett seemingly took Cad Bane out with a stab to the chest, limiting his time to just about one episode.
For fans who have seen the infamous bounty hunter's journey over the years in The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch, his apparent death was met with plenty of dismay. This includes some disappointment from another major cast member, although there may be more to her response to the matter than meets the blood-red eye.
Ahsoka Star on Cad Bane's "Death"
Following the premiere of "Chapter 7" of The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka Tano actress Rosario Dawson addressed Cad Bane's supposed death at the hands of the titular star.
Dawson quote-tweeted one of her other Tweets that expressed her joy at seeing the character in live-action and teasing the idea of working with Cad Bane in the future. Following Bane's death, all she said was "hopes dashed" as she watched the episode with the viewing public:
"*Watches finale of Boba Fett & welp! Hopes dashed…"
Cad Bane's Return Still a Possibility?
As is the case with every major franchise running, Dawson is ensuring that she doesn't give away anything that could be considered a spoiler after Cad Bane appeared to perish on-screen.
However, as has been proven through all of Star Wars' 45-year history, nobody can be considered truly dead. The Book of Boba Fett's two leading heroes proved that in this series alone, having both come back from presumed death on the sands of Tatooine in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
With Cad Bane specifically, "Chapter 7" did its best to indicate to fans that the Duros bounty hunter lost his battle with Boba Fett in a big way after being stabbed in the chest. Looking more closely at the footage, though, a red light could be visibly seen blinking on his chest even after he appeared to stop breathing, possibly hinting that the alien could live to fight another day.
A meeting between Bane and Ahsoka would certainly be a momentous event in Star Wars history considering their ties in the canon animated shows, although their time in The Book of Boba Fett didn't bring them together.
For now, fans will have to wait for quite some time to find out about Bane's true fate, with at least Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi coming before Dawson's Ahsoka series debuts in 2023. The character will be a hot topic regardless after such a dramatic end in Lucasfilm's second live-action series, especially with more than three months until the galaxy far, far away's storytelling picks up again.
All seven chapters of The Book of Boba Fett are now available to stream on Disney+.
