DC has a blockbuster movie slate set for 2022, beginning with March's The Batman and concluding with December's HBO Max original Batgirl. Although amongst all the live-action chaos to come, the DC League of Super-Pets animated flick will swoop into theaters this May, featuring appearances from Ace the Bat-Hound, Krypto the Super-Dog, and many more animalistic heroes.
Warner Bros. has a long-standing history of exploring the DC world within the animation sphere, usually through TV series and direct-to-home movies, but the latest flick will be heading onto the big screen.
The star-studded cast will include Hollywood legends such as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnston, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski, and many more big names. While Johnson and Hart will tackle the canine duo Krypto and Ace, Reeves and Krasinski will be bringing their famous Justice League owners to life as Batman and Superman.
With the release just over two months away, marketing looks set to properly kick into gear as a new trailer focuses on Reeves' Dark Knight.
Introducing Keanu Reeves as Batman in Super-Pets

Super-Pets Debuts a New Justice League
With blockbusters like Black Adam and The Flash still to come after the early box office success of The Batman, League of Super-Pets hasn't received much attention from DC fans. This will be in part due to its animated nature, but likely also related to its separation from any cinematic universe, ongoing storylines, or established heroes.
While Batman and Superman will make appearances, this movie will almost certainly keep its focus on the titular Super-Pets. Even so, it will be interesting to see how large a role the Justice League heroes play, especially with A-list talent attached to the voice roles.
The Dark Knight-centric trailer points to the movie including the first meeting of Batman and his canine counterpart Ace, meaning there's a high chance Superman and Krypto get the same treatment. Following the release of the latest look at the film highlighting the Gotham duo, a Kryptonian equivalent will likely follow in the days or weeks to come.
The newest look at Super-Pets gave viewers an idea of what to expect from the dynamic between Batman and Ace, while also continuing to set the comedic tone. One particularly intriguing line saw The Dark Knight listing off his heroic companions to Ace, including "whoever Morgan Freeman played," a clear reference to the actor behind the Nolan trilogy's Lucius Fox.
The implication of fourth-wall-breaking being a part of Super-Pets is certainly a surprising one, although the comedic technique proved popular with audiences with Deadpool, and it's expected to be used once again in She-Hulk.
DC League of Super-Pets hits theaters on May 20, 2022.
