The Simpsons is showing no signs of slowing down, with the animated TV series having already run for 32 seasons. From recurring inside jokes to a slew of celebrity guest stars, the much-talked-about show has pretty much done it all, but an opportunity came when Disney landed the rights to it back in 2019.

This means that Marvel and Disney characters can now crossover to the world of Homer Simpson and Springfield, giving fans a chance to see their favorites side by side. The first time that both worlds were intertwined was during a special Avengers: Endgame-inspired episode that aired during the 31st season of The Simpsons

In the aforementioned installment, it showcased Bart Simpson becoming a villain, and it also included cameos from Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, and the Russo Brothers.

Now, it looks like a special short led by Tom Hiddleston's Loki is on the horizon for The Simpsons

A MARVEL AND SIMPSONS CROSSOVER

Disney+ officially announced a brand-new The Simpsons short showcasing the animated debut of Tom Hiddleston's Loki, unveiling an Avengers: Endgame-inspired poster to promote it.

The short, titled "The Good, The Bart, and The Loki," will follow the story of Loki going up against reimagined Marvel Cinematic Universe characters played by characters from the hit animated series. It will release on Disney+ on Wednesday, July 7.

Deadline also shared in a report that Loki will team up with Bart Simpson in the upcoming short.

The Simpsons' characters and their Marvel counterparts in the poster are as follows:

  • Loki
  • Bart Simpson
  • Ned Flanders - Ant-Man
  • Ralph Wiggum - Hulk
  • Lisa Simpson - Thor
  • Barney Gumble - Iron Man
  • Agnes Skinner - Black Widow
  • Moe Szyslak - Vision
  • Helen Lovejoy - Captain Marvel
  • Lenny Leonard - Nick Fury
  • Milhouse Van Houten - Hawkeye
  • Herman Hermann - Captain America

THE SIMPSONS JOINS FORCES WITH LOKI

This upcoming The Simpsons short will definitely make Loki fans happy. Tom Hiddleston is no stranger to voicing animated characters due to his experience in his roles from Trollhunters, Family Guy, and Robot Chicken. That said, it's safe to say that the MCU actor will fit right in alongside his new Simpsons allies and enemies.

Aside from the fact that Loki will duke it out against Springfield's Mightiest Heroes, plot details of the episode are still being kept under wraps. It's possible that the narrative will continue from the first Avengers: Endgame-inspired episode, thus cementing the interconnectedness of the storylines that the superhero franchise is known for.

On a plot level, this would align with the confirmation that Bart will team up with Loki in the short. It will be interesting to see the chemistry between Loki and Bart as the two are both well-known tricksters.

Seeing characters from The Simpsons as MCU characters will be a visual treat for fans, and it provides an opportunity for the series to showcase their stars in a whole new light.

"The Good, The Bart, and The Loki" will stream on Disney+ on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.
