After more than a decade of buildup, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame finally provided closure for some fan-favorite heroes.
After years of living displaced in time, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers found a way to pick up where he left off in the mid-twentieth century and went back to live out his days with Peggy Carter.
But Rogers returned to the present day one more time to make sure the mantle of Captain America was left in good hands. And now, Funko is positioning this very moment to bring a close to their most patriotic event ever.
Old Man Steve and Captain America's Shield
Update: A new promotional look at "Old Man Steve's" Funko Pop! has been unveiled by Amazon.
Funko revealed on their latest live stream that they are releasing a Pop! celebrating the “Old Man” version of Steve Rogers that appeared in Avengers: Endgame.
Old Man Steve sits along with the shield that he would pass down to Sam Wilson by the end of the film.
This Pop! will be a part of Funko’s “Year of the Shield” event and will likely release before the end of 2021.
A Farewell to Captain America
It’s fitting that Funko would close out their Year of the Shield program with a Pop! of Steve Rogers at the end of his run as Captain America.
Plus, following the plot of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+, this Funko moment will once again remind fans of how Sam Wilson was set on the path to becoming the new Captain America.
Marvel doesn’t seem to be slowing down with their Infinity Saga-inspired merchandise, whether it be a rainbow Thanos Funko or a new Marvel Legends figure for Happy Hogan. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Chris Evans' Old Man Steve still isn’t the last Endgame Pop! to be added to the collection.
