After shooting up the ranks of MCU popularity thanks to his integral role in Avengers: Endgame, Paul Rudd's Ant-Man will return to complete his tiny trilogy in February 2023 with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
The comedy legend will be joined by his past co-stars Evangeline Lily's Wasp, Michael Douglas' Hank Pym, and Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne, with Kathryn Newton set to replace Emma Fuhrmann as Cassie Lang. Meanwhile, Johnathon Majors will join the Peyton Reed-directed franchise as the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror.
As shooting gets underway at Pinewood Studios in London, a recent social media post has suggested that Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy may have joined the A-list cast.
IS DAN LEVY JOINING ANT-MAN'S NEXT ADVENTURE?
Twitter user Asma Khan, the founder of London Indian restaurant Darjeeling Express, has shared an image of herself pictured with Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantmania star Paul Rudd and Schitt's Creek's Dan Levy.
Rudd is currently in production on 2023's Ant-Man and the Wasp sequel at Pinewood Studios, just a 21-mile (34 kilometers) journey from the Indian establishment in question. The viral image of the two comedy legends pictured together has ignited speculation that Levy may have a role in the Marvel sequel.
While the popular actors sharing a meal in the English capital city is far from a confirmation of his casting, it wouldn't be the first time that a Marvel casting has accidentally been hinted at in this way.
Back in September 2020, Benedict Wong was pictured at a Korean BBQ restaurant with Simu Liu in Australia, months before the actor was confirmed to be returning as Wong in Shang-Chi's MCU debut. Similarly, Russell Crowe shared a selfie with Chris Hemsworth on Instagram before he officially joined Thor: Love and Thunder.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many stars are refraining from meeting up for social gatherings unless they are working within the same bubble to prevent the spread of the virus. However, England recently removed all of its legal restrictions, meaning the two wouldn't be breaching any regulations by meeting for dinner.
WHO COULD DAN LEVY PLAY IN ANT-MAN 3?
Dan Levy has won a multitude of awards over the years for his contributions to acting, writing, and directing in the comedic space, making him a perfect fit for Peyton Reed's hilarious Ant-Man franchise.
Granted, it's entirely possible Dan Levy and Paul Rudd were just two friends meeting up for dinner in London. But given Levy is currently splitting his time between his homes in Toronto and Los Angeles with no projects currently confirmed to be in the works in London, the meeting is suspicious.
The Schitt's Creek star has previously shared on Twitter that he would be interested in playing the X-Men's Northstar in the MCU. Both Levy and Northstar are members of the LGBTQI+ community, which would make the casting excellent progress towards greater representation in the superhuman world.
While the actor may have been a popular fan-cast for the mutant speedster in the past, there are currently no signs of the X-Men making their MCU debut anytime soon. So unless the mutants come into existence at some point over the next two years before the Ant-Man sequel hits theaters, fans may need to consider other options for Levy.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania hits theaters on February 17, 2023.
