The Ant-Man franchise starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly is posed to become a trilogy in February 2023 with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
When audiences last left Scott Lang's Ant-Man, he had reunited with his daughter Cassie Lang in Avengers: Endgame following the five-year time jump caused by Thanos' snap and Scott being trapped in the Quantum Realm.
While a third Ant-Man film was somewhat expected for Marvel's Phase 4, fans were surprised when Kevin Feige recast teenage Cassie with Kathyrn Newton for Quantumania.
But apparently, the newly formed Ant-Man cast is already getting to know each other.
EVANGELINE LILLY SHARES EXCITEMENT FOR KATHRYN NEWTON\
Evangeline Lilly shared on Instagram that she spoke with Newton and that she's "so excited" to have the actress join the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Lilly praised Newton with adjectives like "smart," "dedicated," and "humble" as hashtags.
Lilly captioned her post saying,
"Just got off the phone with Kathryn Newton I AM SO EXCITED TO HAVE HER JOINING OUR CAST! #smart #dedicated #respectful #humble #beautiful"
Newton responded by sharing the actress's post to her own Instagram story.
And to add her own thoughts, Newton shared,
"Low key freaking out I love Evangeline Lilly so much!"
To date, Cassie Lang as Scott Lang's daughter has been an important part of Ant-Man and the Wasp's MCU journeys, being played by Abby Ryder Fortson in 2015's Ant-Man and 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp before being played by teenage actress Emma Fuhrman in two brief scenes in 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
But it appears that Marvel Studios also has big plans for the character outside the Ant-Man franchise as it's speculated she will assume the role of Stature as part of the Young Avengers.
THE DAUGHTERS OF ANT-MEN
While it's great to see an established member of a cast welcome in a new addition, it's likely that Lilly's Hope Van Dyne and Newton's Cassie will share a bond in Quantumania.
After all, both characters have been the daughter of an Ant-Man. And since Cassie is now a teenager, that situation may become more complicated for Scott and Cassie, especially since she thought she lost her dad during the blip.
Of course, the only person to truly understand that kind of father-daughter dynamic and losing a parent would, of course, be Hope.
In addition, according to Michael Douglas who plays Hank Pym, Quantumania should be shooting in July.
Lilly establishing a relationship with her new costar ahead of time not only makes filming more enjoyable but will also help to lay the foundation for a possible on-screen relationship.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is expected to debut in theaters by 2023.
