“Episode 8” of WandaVision took a new direction in terms of its plot , changing course from both the sitcom reality and the real-world updates. Instead, fans were treated to a look back at both Wanda Maximoff and Agatha Harkness’ personal histories both before and during the events of the Infinity Saga.

The story followed up on a tease/Easter Egg first given in “Episode 1” by going back to a new version of the Salem Witch Trials from 1693, this helped put Agatha’s rise to power on full display. Additionally, extra plot points from Wanda Maximoff’s past adventures were explored in detail, expanding on threads that had been teased in Phases 2 and 3 of the MCU .

Along with going back to the past, “Episode 8” even took a short moment to look ahead to the Scarlet Witch’s next evolution.

WANDA MAXIMOFF SEES HER FUTURE

In “Episode 8” of Marvel Studios’ WandaVision , Wanda Maximoff is seen in the Hydra experiments with the Mind Stone that bestow/unlock her superpowers, likely around the same time of the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier .

In the moment before she gets knocked out, Wanda sees what looks to be an image of herself fully suited up in a new costume as she completes her transformation into the Scarlet Witch.

WILL “EPISODE 9” SEE WANDA GO FULL WITCH?

Marvel Studios has done a tremendous job throughout WandaVision of giving Easter Eggs connecting to its central characters while also teasing the imminent future.

Early promotional posters for the series teased each leading hero with a few of their costumes utilized in different decades of the sitcom-style episodes. Wanda’s posters were fascinating due to the hints that she would be receiving a costume upgrade by the time WandaVision came to an end.

Finally, seeing the scene where the Mind Stone changed Wanda was exciting not only for the way it fleshed out her origin story but also for how it paid tribute to her comic roots and laid the foundation for her future. After seeing her comic accurate costume in “Episode 6,” this next wardrobe change should come as a pivotal moment as she takes on her biggest challenge yet in Agatha Harkness .

All will be revealed when the season finale of WandaVision premieres on March 5, 2021. The first eight episodes are available to stream now on Disney+ .
