It's been more than a year since WandaVision debuted on Disney+, but the streaming series' impact on pop culture is still being felt. Much of the credit for WandaVision's success must be credited to Elizabeth Olsen and her top-tier performance as the Scarlet Witch, but she wasn't the only sorceress to steal the show. Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness quickly became a fan-favorite MCU character during her Marvel debut on Disney+, and she'll be getting her own spin-off series to celebrate her success titled Agatha: House of Harkness.
The WandaVision spin-off series is still in the early stages of development and shouldn't begin filming until October 2022, so there isn't much information available regarding the show's plot or the characters that fans can expect to appear. However, a recent trailer for the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seems to tease that Wanda Maximoff will revisit the town of Westview, indicating that Agatha could appear and the context needed for her Disney+ show could be established there.
With Multiverse of Madness drawing near, Kathryn Hahn suddenly has a promising update for fans that are anxiously waiting to see their other favorite witch from Westview again.
Agatha Harkness Star Gives Promising Disney+ Update
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn gave fans an update on her upcoming Disney+ series Agatha: House of Harkness.
Although House of Harkness is still far from complete, Hahn teased that what she has seen from the show's development so far is “exactly what (she) would have hoped and dreamt."
Agatha Harkness Prepares for MCU Return
Kathryn Hahn admitted when WandaVision first got its Disney+ start that she had been given a full rundown on the show and its events, proving right away that Marvel was keen on including Harkness in some big MCU plans. Now that Hahn is the leading star of her own upcoming series, the Agatha actress will obviously play an even heavier hand in how House of Harkness comes to life.
Filming isn't scheduled to start for another eight months, so details on the streaming series can't be all that abundant. This begs the question of whether another MCU project on the horizon will be tasked with setting up the continuation of Agatha's MCU story. Since Wanda Maximoff decided to leave Agatha in exile as nothing more than the unassuming Westview neighbor that she was posing to be, something will have to change in order to free the witch from Wanda's spell.
It seems Wanda will have to revisit the events and locations of WandaVision during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as the newest trailer for the movie features two versions of the Scarlet Witch confronting each other in Wanda's Westview home. Considering the damage done to the home that can be seen in the trailer, it could be that Westview will witness yet another brawl between witches.
Considering Agatha lives next door to Wanda's fabricated fortress and frequently popped in on the Scarlet Witch, there's a chance that Multiverse of Madness will involve Agatha Harkness returning to the spotlight and possibly being freed by the Scarlet Witch losing control over her powers.
There's still quite a while before Agatha: House of Harkness begins shooting this autumn, but Kathryn Hahn's excitement is a good sign that Agatha's involvement in the MCU will be anything but scarce.
WandaVision is streaming now on Disney+.
