Thor: Love and Thunder is the fourth solo adventure of Chris Hemsworth's titular Asgardian, marking the first time that an MCU hero has received such an achievement. Directed by Taika Waititi, the upcoming MCU film is expected to revolve around the God of Thunder's escapades with the Guardians of the Galaxy, but an unknown mission has led him back to New Asgard on Earth. Alongside the Guardians, Love and Thunder features a stellar cast, such as Korg, Miek, Tessa Thompson's King Valkyrie, and Natalie Portman's Mighty Thor

Love and Thunder's first teaser indicated that Thor will be contemplating retirement from the superhero gig, mainly because he has nothing more to do after defeating Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. Shots of Thor not being engaged during his mission with the Guardians and him traveling around different realms to find a new purpose were featured, hinting that the sequel will spend a good chunk of its runtime dealing with this aftermath.

Now, a special look at Thor's peaceful state has emerged.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8.

Will Thor Have A Peaceful Retirement?

It remains to be seen if Thor will indeed have a peaceful retirement in Love and Thunder, but this new image could suggest that there will be bits in the film where the God of Thunder will experience a sense of tranquility.

It's possible that Love and Thunder's early moments will revolve around Thor's quest for peace until it is ultimately thwarted by the arrival of Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. Given that Thor is a hero, seeing Gorr's wrath across the different realms, and eventually New Asgard, could force him out of retirement, thus leading to a fateful showdown.

The question still remains if Thor will retire at the end of the movie, considering that Jane Foster's Mighty Thor is primed to take over the superhero gig for Earth. A previous rumor indicated that Thor will appear in the MCU again after Love and Thunderhinting that he could still help out in future missions with either the Guardians of the Galaxy or the Avengers.

Despite that, it's also likely that Thor will sit out for a while, before returning for a much bigger battle in Avengers 5

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to premiere in theaters on July 8.
