It's been a long and arduous wait, but The Mandalorian Season 2 is on the brink of release! The marketing campaign has been kicked into high gear as we've seen through the various trailers and TV spots, as well as the inaugural event of Mando Monday.
But, there's been no greater marketer and hype-man for Season 2 than Ginacarlo Esposito. The man behind the treacherous Moff Gideon kept fans in the know over the summer, prior to the promotional ramp-up, and has teased great battles to come and additional seasons. With just a few days left before the season premiere, the actor has once again given some juicy details on the show...

In an interview with Good Morning America, actor Giancarlo Esposito detailed his villain Moff Gideon's role in The Mandalorian Season 2:
"My character Moff Giddeon is the warden of the galaxy. He is a remnant of the Imperial Empire and he is still searching for his quarry, which we hope he will find."
Esposito also teased the journey The Child would take with the fans:
"He's going to make this show and allow us to take a journey spiritually to who we really are inside."
Below is the actor's full interview with GMA:
WHAT THIS MEANS
The Mandalorian may have debuted nearly a year ago, but we really don't know much about Moff Gideon. It's clear that obtaining The Child is something very important to the villain, but what he plans to do with him remains an enigma.
To hear Esposito describe his character as the "warden" of the galaxy raises many questions. Just how far does this Imperial Remnant's authority reach? Where else is this group's presence felt? How have they been able to operate with the New Republic now the central government? What is Gideon's ultimate goal?
The actor had some really nice things to say about what we can expect from Baby Yoda. Star Wars at its best has always taken the audience along for a spiritual journey alongside the hero, and The Child is next in line to take us down that path. The Child isn't yet able to speak and relies on Mando for nurturing and protection, but we've already seen him protect his father figure as well and show great focus despite his youthful innocence.
Esposito is undoubtedly correct in saying that Baby Yoda is the star of the show, and it will be a privilege to follow our little green friend on his journey. How Moff Gideon will factor into the baby's path remains to be seen, but we'll begin to find out more come Friday when Season 2 finally makes its debut!
