The Arrowverse welcomed a new show in the form of Superman & Lois , and so far, the series is off to an impressive start. The highly-talked-about CW show follows the life of Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent and Elizabeth Tulloch's Lois Lane as the couple tries to navigate parenthood while staying in Smallville .

As it is, this seems to be an unusual storyline for the Man Of Steel, but many would agree that this serves as a unique opportunity to showcase the DC icon like never before. The supersized premiere proved that Superman & Lois has what it takes to compete with the rest of the shows from the Arrowverse lineup. Not only that, it was established that the series has a different tone and approach in presenting the narrative.

Clearly, The CW noticed the resoundingly positive response from fans and critics about Superman & Lois , as evidenced by an official announcement.

SUPERMAN & LOIS WILL RETURN FOR SEASON 2

Variety shared in a report that Superman & Lois has been renewed for a second season by The CW Network.

The announcement came a week after the show's major premiere primetime numbers, lifting the network to "its most-watched night in over two years and scored the best one-day streaming digits ever for a new show."

The official statement from The CW CEO Mark Pedowitz can be viewed below:

“The phenomenal multiplatform debut of ‘Superman & Lois,’ which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment. We are thrilled to now have two brand-new bonafide hits in ‘Superman & Lois’ and ‘Walker,’ both of which have been renewed for next season along with 11 other of our shows, further positioning us for continued strength and stability for next season.”

Alongside the reveal, the official Twitter account of Superman & Lois also posted a new promotional image showcasing the Season 2 renewal.

MORE ARROWVERSE CROSSOVERS IN THE SOPHOMORE SEASON?

On the surface, this is exciting news for longtime fans of the Arrowverse. The inclusion of Superman in the stacked lineup of heroes from the interconnected TV franchise was a pipe dream at first, but the arrival of Supergirl and now Superman & Lois strongly cements the Man of Steel as one of its cornerstones.

The early Season 2 renewal for Superman & Lois seemingly suggests that Clark Kent is here to stay in The CW for years to come, which isn't surprising given that the DCEU is leaning towards its multiversal approach. Tyler Hoechlin's portrayal of Superman has been one of the highlights of the Arrowverse ever since he debuted in Supergirl Season 2, and the actor's iteration was further propelled due to the birth of this new show.

The series premiere of Superman & Lois gave viewers a taste of a radically different production quality mixed with several surprises that have long been imbued in the DNA of the Arrowverse. The combination of these two elements was proven effective, mainly due to the fact that it reportedly “scored the best one-day streaming digits ever for a new show,” and it looks like the record will be broken if the series keeps its momentum.

Given the renewal, this will no doubt prompt numerous questions about a potential crossover with other Arrowverse properties like The Flash and Batwoman . Originally, Javicia Leslie's Batwoman was supposed to team-up with Superman for a potential mission, but the idea was scrapped due to the ongoing pandemic .

With the vaccine rollout on the way and loosening travel restrictions, it seems that another Arrowverse crossover will likely happen in the 2021-2022 TV season. This should be an essential move to further establish the fact that Superman & Lois is still part of the larger world that The CW created.

For now, there are multiple questions that Superman & Lois need to address after an explosive premiere, and it will be interesting to find out how the show will tackle those elements moving forward.
