Lucasfilm and Disney will return to Jedi-centric storytelling at the end of Spring 2022 with Ewan McGregor's currently limited Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The former Jedi Master will take on his next challenges as he lives out his self-imposed exile on Tatooine, coming about a decade after his emotional battle with Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith.

Part of Obi-Wan's mission will have him watching over the young Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, making sure the iconic twins stay out of the trouble that they'll inevitably encounter. He'll also have to avoid the Inquisitors, who will enter their first live-action story in an intense mission to hunt down the last remaining Jedi amidst the Empire's rise, including Obi-Wan himself.

Rumors have also pointed to another new Jedi coming into play alongside McGregor's leading character - one who looks to rebuild the decimated Jedi Order after Revenge of the Sith. Now, more details are teasing some of that specific plot point as insight on characters and moments come to light.

New Jedi Star Coming to Obi-Wan Kenobi

Bespin Bulletin shared a rumor about Benny Safdie's role in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series.

Safdie will reportedly play a Jedi named Nari who's looking for Obi-Wan, but the Inquisitors hunt him down and force him to Tatooine. Nari is seen in the trailer when Moses Ingram's Reva jumps in front of him with a lightsaber.

Reva, the Fifth Brother, and the Grand Inquisitor will reportedly force Safdie's Nari to reveal himself through torturing other citizens in the area. They'll all enter an establishment as the Grand Inquisitor gives a speech about the Jedi's need to help others, some of which was heard in the teaser.

Another part of the trailer includes pieces of an exchange between Nari and Obi-Wan, with the master telling him "The fight is done. We lost."

Jedi Coming Back to Power in Obi-Wan

Almost no group in Star Wars history is more iconic or important than the Jedi, a group that Obi-Wan made his name with for nearly a decade and a half during the prequel trilogy era. It seems only right that the powerful warriors will make some kind of return, even while the former master focuses his attention elsewhere with the Empire's influence on the galaxy.

This report doesn't indicate how many episodes Safdie's Nari will be in or how important his role will be amongst other characters like the Grand Inquisitor or Reva. However, Nari's presence will only put Obi-Wan in more danger in relation to the Inquisitors, which may make his mission of reforming the Jedi Order even more difficult.

With just over two months remaining until Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres, fans will hopefully learn more details about Safdie's role as more specifics are fleshed out. It seems unlikely that the Jedi will fully come back to power considering the events of Episode IV, but with ten years until that movie's plot, anything is possible.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May 25, 2022.
