In the months leading up to Spider-Man: No Way Home's theatrical debut, the internet was a minefield of leaks and spoilers about the anticipated threequel, particularly in regard to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man roles. Still, these former Spider stars weren't the only ones. Images from Daredevil's scene with Tom Holland also leaked online, confirming speculation that Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock would, in fact, serve as Peter's lawyer.
Despite these various spoilers, as well as a rough recording of the film's trailer making its way online ahead of its official release, No Way Home delivered record-breaking numbers at the box office. But apparently, old habits die hard; and even though the film has been in theaters for months at this point, the Tom Holland-led threequel and its impressive roster of cameos leaked online ahead of its digital release.
In response, Spider-Man: No Way Home's March 22 digital release was moved to March 15. And, to further combat the issue, Sony released the first ten minutes of the film online, which includes the threequel's first big spoiler cameo: Charlie Cox as Daredevil's Matt Murdock.
Sony Releases Daredevil Scene from No Way Home
Out ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home's digital home release, Sony released the first ten minutes of the blockbuster film via IGN, which happens to include Charlie Cox's full scene as Matt Murdock from Daredevil.
Even though Daredevil is a Marvel character, No Way Home marked his first official MCU debut.
From 2015 through 2018, Charlie Cox portrayed the blind lawyer and vigilante in Netflix's Daredevil series. But due to the violent nature of the series, and the fact it was produced separately from Marvel Studios, Cox's reprisal seemed unlikely.
However, his No Way Home cameo implied otherwise, and while fans don't know what the MCU has planned for Cox's Daredevil, his original series that debuted on Netflix will officially be coming to Disney+ on March 16.
The first ten minutes of Spider-Man: No Way Home and Charlie Cox's full scene as Matt Murdock can be seen below:
Spider-Man 3's Daredevil Scene is More Than a Cameo
Even though this newly released portion of the film doesn't include Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield, fans are getting to revisit No Way Home's first big reveal and the beginning of a character's run within the MCU.
Unlike Spider-Man, Sony doesn't own the character of Daredevil, allowing Disney and Marvel Studios to include the character wherever and whenever they choose.
While, again, how the MCU intends to handle the former Daredevil series and just when and where fans will see the "really good lawyer" again have yet to be confirmed, his cameo in No Way Home was a hint at the character's future, and it's likely fans will see the hero sooner rather than later.
In fact, in recent interviews, the actor shared a few of his own ideas for the character upon his return, including his own preferences for his costume.
In the years to come, Charlie Cox's Spider-Man: No Way Home reprisal won't be seen as just another cameo but rather the revival of a fan-favorite character and the start of his run within the MCU.
Spider-Man: No Way Home comes to digital storefronts on March 15 and Blu-ray/4K UHD on April 12.
