Of the various Star Wars projects set to arrive on Disney+ over the next few years, not many have more inherent excitement than Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka. After her long-awaited live-action debut in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian, which followed a highly-developed arc in The Clone Wars and Rebels, former Jedi Master Ahsoka Tano will be the focus of her own solo series in a post-original sequel adventure.
At the moment, there isn't a ton of confirmed information regarding Dawson's Ahsoka series other than a few co-stars, none bigger than Hayden Christensen in his second recent appearance as Darth Vader. The series will also bring Sabine Wren into her first live-action story alongside other major stars like the DCEU's Mary Elizabeth Winstead and the MCU's Ray Stevenson.
As for behind-the-scenes personnel, the only people confirmed for involvement with the series are regular contributors Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, although the extent of their involvement is still unclear. Now, the most recent news surrounding Ahsoka sets the series up with a highly-accomplished director who's seen his fair share of recent popularity.
From Spider-Verse to Star Wars
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Peter Ramsey is set to direct at least one episode of Lucasfilm's live-action Ahsoka series for Disney+.
Ramsey previously served as one of the co-directors on Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which was released in 2018.
Ahsoka Gets Top-Tier Director
While it's unknown how many episodes of Ahsoka will be under Ramsey's watch, Star Wars once again finds itself with one of the best names in the business.
Ramsey's resume as a director isn't long, but it does include 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, one of the most universally beloved superhero movies of the last few years. Working with writers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord, Ramsey delivered a highly-entertaining Multiversal adventure, one whose reception and magnitude should set him up perfectly for the responsibilities on Ahsoka.
At the moment, it's unclear who else will join Ramsey in the director's chairs or even when the show will actually make its debut on Disney+. But with shooting set to begin over the next few weeks, Lucasfilm is preparing to bring yet another thrilling outing to the galaxy far, far away alongside companions like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor.
