Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an exciting addition to the Phase 4 slate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since it's the franchise's first foray into the realm of martial arts. Starring an all-Asian cast, the Simu Liu-led project will look to introduce notable characters and mythologies to the growing MCU lore, such as The Mandarin, Fin-Fang Foom, and the power of chi.

Just like other MCU projects, Shang-Chi has experienced its own set of delays. Originally landing a February 2021 release date, the film was initially moved to May of next year. However, another round of delays ultimately pushed the film to a July 2021 big screen release.

Production for Shang-Chi is currently ongoing in Australia, and a wide array of behind-the-scenes content has emerged online in the past weeks. And now, news has surfaced confirming an important addition to the film's stellar behind-the-scenes crew.

NEWS

Doctor Strange actor and martial artist Scott Adkins recently sat down with Jackie Chan stunt team member Andy Cheng to talk about his remarkable career. During the start of the interview, Cheng confirmed that he is currently in Sydney and doing work for Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings.

WHAT THIS MEANS

The addition of Andy Cheng to Shang-Chi should elevate the stunt work of the film in exciting ways. Given that Cheng closely worked with Jackie Chan, the renowned stunt performer will get the chance to impart important pieces of advice to Simu Liu and the rest of the cast in terms of incorporating different fighting styles.

Liu already showcased his martial arts capabilities in behind-the-scenes footage, and it's clear that the actor is ready for the intense fighting sequences that Shang-Chi will adapt to the silver screen. Additionally, Jackie Chan's stunts from his previous films had healthy doses of slapstick humor, and Cheng's inclusion to Shang-Chi's stunt team could mean that the film will adopt that facet to align with the MCU's brand of comedy.

All in all, Cheng's involvement is an exciting development for Shang-Chi, and it allows the film to explore exciting action sequences that will entice MCU fans everywhere.
