Anthony Ramos Breaks Silence on Joining the Marvel Universe

Following Robert Downey Jr.'s Avengers: Endgame departure from his Iron Man role, fans have been eager for more armored content from the MCU. But as calls for his return fall of deaf ears, Marvel Studios has multiple Disney+ series in line to explore Tony Stark's legacy. Both Don Cheadle's Armor Wars and Dominique Thorne's Ironheart will focus on Iron-suited heroes while diving into the popular Avenger's impact on the world.

Newcomer Dominique Thorne will make her Marvel debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as genius MIT student Riri Williams before going on to don her own high-tech superhero armor in the Ironheart Disney+ series. The series is expected to begin filming before summer 2022 for a Disney+ premiere in 2023.

Rumors indicate the villains of Ironheart will be Silicon Valley-inspired "tech bros" while other reports state the Iron Man spin-off may introduce a child of Obadiah Stane, Tony Stark's first adversary in the Marvel universe.

As the series begins to move closer towards production, casting is well underway, and one Broadway star was recently announced to be taking on a role in Ironheart and future Marvel projects.

Deadline recently revealed Hamilton and In The Heights star, Anthony Ramos has been cast in a secret Marvel role with his introduction coming in Ironheart before going on to appear in future MCU projects.

Following the reports, Ramos has taken to Instagram to confirm the news in a post with a Spanish caption which loosely translates to: "We in the Marvel universe mix. Thank God for the opportunity!"

Who is Anthony Ramos Playing in Ironheart?

Within Marvel Comics, Iron Man villain Obadiah Stane has a son called Ezekiel who, after his father's death, enhanced his body with cybernetic enhancements using black market Stark tech. This storyline would align nicely with Armor Wars' premise which will see Don Cheadle's War Machine dealing with Iron Man's technology falling into the wrong hands, something which was teased in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Given reports that a child of Iron Man villain Obadiah Stane may appear in Ironheart, perhaps this may be Anthony Ramos' mysterious role. Stane could conceivably be introduced in a minor capacity in Ironheart, similar to Johnathon Majors' Kang the Conqueror, before going on to play a larger role in Armor Wars.

The Illuminerdi previously speculated that based on a rumored description of Ironheart's villain, it may point to The Hood being a key antagonist in the series. Petty thief Parker Robbins first took up the villainous mantle after killing a demon and taking his mystical cloak which granted him the powers of flight and invisibility. Although this theory may prove false as mystical demons probably wouldn't match the tech-focussed premise of Ironheart and would be unlikely to lead to a major lasting role.

Alternatively, perhaps Ramos may play Nate Richards aka Iron Lad, the adolescent version of Kang the Conqueror. With Johnathon Majors' time-traveling villain slated to play a major role in the Marvel world in the years to come, it's only right for Iron Lad to be introduced too, and where better than Ironheart

Other alternate theories point to Ramos playing the intergalactic space-cop Nova or Doctor Doom himself, both of which are believed to be on the way to the MCU soon. Although examining the candidates, Stane certainly appears to have the most credence behind it, but only time will tell.

Ironheart is expected to debut on Disney+ in 2023.
