The next few years for the MCU already have more than a handful of new characters arriving in both theatrical films and Disney+ series. Not only are properties like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Eternals, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight and more scheduled to make their debuts over the next few years, Marvel Studios is in the earliest stages of bringing in the newly acquired Fox Studios heroes from franchises like the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

Even with all of these new additions to the franchise, Marvel is always planning years in advance for newer and even more obscure heroes or teams to bring in amongst Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Taking that into consideration, a new rumor has just surfaced potentially detailing a specific team that Marvel is looking to introduce in the near future.

RUMOR

A new rumor from Caleb Williams on Twitter has put the possibility out that Marvel Studios is looking to bring Alpha Flight into the MCU soon. No other details were shared on if the team would have their own franchise or come in as a part of an already established property.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Alpha Flight is a Canadian based team of superheroes that premiered in "The Uncanny X-Men" #120 in April 1979 as a part of Wolverine's backstory. Wolverine is one of Marvel Comics' most notable Canadians, which leads right into the team's origins as Canada's version of the Avengers. Through most of their comics history, they have worked for Department H, a fictional sector of Canada's Department of National Defence that handles superpowered villains.

Marvel is no stranger to premiering some of the most obscure characters in the history of comics, especially after transforming unknown franchises like the Guardians of the Galaxy into household names worldwide. Should Alpha Flight make their way into the MCU soon, it would also give a much more well-rounded and fully formed backstory to Wolverine, one of the most prominent members of the newly-acquired X-Men.

The team's ranks have been filled by a varying number of different heroes throughout its comics run, but there are no specifics pointing to which particular team members would premiere in the MCU. There are also no rumored timelines for its debut or any other potential existing properties to introduce to the franchise.
