Marvel Studios is set to explore Halloween like never before by introducing its very own Disney+ special for the spooky season. Although details about the upcoming project are still sparse, some concrete information has slowly made headlines in the past fewmonths. For starters, it is widely rumored to revolve around Jack Russell a.k.a. Werewolf By Night

Rumors indicate that the Halloween special could potentially arrive after Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight, meaning that it may premiere in time for Halloween 2022. Coco voice actor Gael Garcia Bernal was reportedly tapped to play the lead werewolf, thus hinting that production could begin sooner rather than later.

Renowned film composer Michael Giacchino (Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming) is also rumored to helm the project as its director. Now, as the MCU embraces a new chapter, more details about the werewolf-centric Halloween special has been revealed.

The Wrap shared that Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Batman composer Michael Giacchino is set to direct the untitled Halloween special from Marvel Studios, which is rumored to focus on Werewolf By Night.

The outlet corroborated the previous report first made by The Cosmic Circus and movie insider Daniel Richtman

The Hollywood Reporter then revealed in its own report that their sources pointed out that the upcoming Halloween special is not titled Werewolf By Night, contrary to previous claims.

In a tweet, Giacchino appears to have confirmed his involvement with the project by responding with a series of prayer emojis to Ben Schwartz after the actor expressed excitement about his new project:

"NOW THIS I LIKE!!!!!!!!! GO GET 'EM @m_giacchino!!! I CAN'T WAIT! IF YOU ARE DIRECTING, YOU SHOULD HAVE @TaikaWaititi DO THE SCORE!"

A Midnight Sons Tease?

This latest report about Marvel Studios' Halloween special likely indicates that the project's storyline will include other MCU characters, but the main focus could still revolve around Werewolf By Night.

There's a chance that the upcoming Halloween special is treated like an anthology, meaning that there would be an overarching title for the project encapsulating all its material.

Tales of the Midnight Sons might become a fitting title since it could serve as a tease of the superhero group's debut in the future. This potential title also allows other members of the Midnight Sons to take the spotlight, introducing them one by one to fans before eventually crafting a crossover project.

Another potential title could simply be Nightstalkers. In Marvel Comics, the Nightstalkers is a trio of vampire hunters led by Blade, whose primary goal is to battle supernatural threats.

The MCU could retcon this concept by giving this title to the Halloween Special, which might serve as the first iteration of the eventual Midnight Sons group of the franchise. Doing this allows Marvel Studios to showcase the different members of the Midnight Sons in its own unique way.

A previous report also mentioned that Mahershala Ali's Blade would make an appearance in the Halloween special. This could indicate that the supernatural team will soon assemble, and this project may be used as the main avenue to tease their looming presence.
