When it comes to Chris Hemsworth's next adventure, it isn't just him that people are most excited about seeing return to screens; instead, it's also Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. The character was last seen during Thor: The Dark World (Avengers: Endgame not included) and has vanished since then. However, that all is set to change with Thor: Love and Thunder.
The film will feature Jane Foster getting back into action, but circumstances will be different this time. Natalie Portman's former love interest will be taking up the famous hammer Mjolnir and becoming a God of thunder herself.
The circumstances behind these chains of events aren't known, but it's not a completely foreign idea, as the character was once coined The Mighty Thor in the comics. But what brings her to the hammer in the MCU? And how does that hammer stay together?
Formerly leaked concept art has shown fans what the character is going to look like, including her cracked, yet still whole, Uru hammer. Now, new toy images from Marvel have given audiences a new look at the upcoming change to Portman's lovable scientist.
New Look At Natalie Portman's Jane
Marvel released new images of its upcoming line of Titan Hero Series figures, and among them is a new look at Natalie Portman's Jane Foster from Thor: Love and Thunder.
From the Titan Hero figures, fans can get a good idea of what Jane will look like in the upcoming project:
For reference, live-action glimpses of the character from previously released concept art reveal some minor differences:
In comparison, the figure is oddly missing some colored details on its helmet:
Jane Becomes a Thor
After Thor: The Dark World, many thought Natalie Portman would never return to her role in the MCU. However, it seems that something about Taiki Watiti's work has drawn the actress back to the superhero world, and that alone should be enough to get fans excited.
The dynamics between the characters alone will make the price of admission worth it. It's hard to imagine how Hemsworth's God of Thunder will think of his former love picking up his shattered hammer and making it whole again. No doubt he'll be jealous, but he could end up being fairly thrilled on top of that.
As for how big a role in the film Foster has, it's unknown. But given she's getting Mjolnir, it's likely pretty significant. In fact, maybe she'll even be the key to defeating Christian Bale's Gorr The God Butcher.
Thor: Love and Thunder releases in theaters on July 8, 2022.
