Even though What If...? is Marvel's fourth project made for Disney+, the series is quite a departure from the likes of WandaVision or Loki.
In addition to being the studio's first animated show, What If...? revisits familiar stories from the MCU but explores what could happen if key details were changed.
The show's promotion has shown Captain Carter instead of Captain America, T'Challa as Star-Lord, and even Captain America as a zombie!
To celebrate the series debut, Marvel Studios has partnered with Hyundai again to tease and intrigue the humor and drama of What If...?
NEW WHAT IF...? AD FEATURES DOCTOR STRANGE & ULTRON
To promote the release of the series on Disney+, Marvel Studios shared an ad for What If...? in partnership with Hyundai.
The ad appears to show Thor at the wheel of a Hyundai SUV fighting alongside the Multiverse version of T'Challa's as Star-Lord, Doctor Strange, and Captain Carter against Age of Ultron-style bots.
While Ultron's appearance in this ad is a surprise, the return of the super bot isn't exactly shocking.
Leading up to What If...?'s release, there had been multiple leaks about an alternate Ultron story for the series. One rumor, in particular, claims Ultron will cause a cataclysmic event featuring Natasha Romanoff's Black Widow.
While fans don't yet know exactly what Doctor Strange's story involves, there are rumors that his story will be tragic and lead him down a dark path.
In promoting the series, The Watcher's Jeffrey Wright made several comments about the show's Doctor Strange episode, saying he was "blown over" by it and that The Watcher "takes a very peculiar interest in that story too."
In addition, T'Challa as Star-Lord isn't just fascinating but also powerful since it's Chadwick Boseman's final performance in the MCU.
Thor has always been one for making an entrance, and he certainly lives up to his reputation in this ad.
However, the version of Thor in What If...? is Party Thor, and he's still wielding Mjolnir.
While fans have yet to see T'Challa or Doctor Strange's episodes, the series debut episode titled "What If...Captain Carter Were The First Avenger?" revealed how and why Peggy Carter took the super-soldier serum in place of Steve Rogers and how her hero's origin story played out.
This particular shot from the ad has serious Avengers in New York vibes but with Ultron bots instead of Chitauri.
It also offers a great view of T'Challa as Star-Lord with a purple motif reminiscent of his purple and black Vibranium Black Panther suit.

WHAT IF THOR TAKES THE WHEEL?
While this Hyundai ad does showcase What If...?'s versions of MCU heroes in action and who's to come in future episodes, it's also just fun and a celebration of the possibilities that this particular series can provide.
However, audiences shouldn't take the Marvel/Hyundai ad too seriously.
After all, while Thor at the wheel wielding Mjolnir would be awesome, that kind of product placement might be a little too bold for Marvel's latest show. Still, as the name implies, the possibilities are endless when pondering what if.
