With Spider-Man: No Way Home out of the way, all eyes are on Benedict Cumberbatch’s next adventure as everyone’s favorite sorcerer: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The film is set to be Strange’s first solo outing since 2016, but he’s far from alone. Elizabeth Olsen will be returning as the Scarlet Witch alongside Benedict Wong’s Sorcerer Supreme. Also along for the ride? Newcomer Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez.
The project recently received its first trailer, showcasing what seems to be quite an insane journey for the MCU’s first true Multiversal adventure. It even showed off the first footage of America Chavez, who can be seen side-by-side with Strange—her famous star portals even got screen time.
Prior to the new footage, the character was previously seen in promotional art, in a pose that pays homage to the covers of AMERICA #1, the character’s first self-titled comic.
Well, now, fans can see that image in both better quality and color.
America Chavez Arrives in the MCU
New Marvel Legends figures from the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film have started to be listed for pre-order.
Among them is one for Xochti Gomez’s America Chavez. As great as the figure is, the promotional image that comes with it draws the most attention.
While this image and pose for the character has been seen before, it hasn’t been in this high quality or full color. Besides what fans saw in the movie’s first teaser, this is the best look at the highly anticipated character yet.
America Chavez in the Multiverse of Madness
Xochti Gomez’s America Chavez is retaining her comic look, which is sure to please fans. As for how she plays on screen, that’s an entirely different ballpark.
At the least, judging on her brief moments in the trailer, it seems that she will be on Doctor Strange's side; though, curiously, Wanda is nowhere to be seen with the two of them. How she gets involved in the conflict also remains a mystery.
Chavez is fairly out there when it comes to her comic affairs, so it should be interesting to see how Marvel Studios brings her to life on the big screen. With those big star portals having remained, her adaptation will undoubtedly be faithful to her roots.
If the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home is any indication, audiences are craving more Multiverse insanity. For now, the world will have to wait until Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters worldwide on May 6, 2022.
