Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is less than two months away from finally hitting theaters. In a different timeline, the project would already be out—sadly, this isn’t that reality. Sure, the upcoming Moon Knight series may be a good distraction until then, but there’s no denying it: fans want to see what all of this hyped-up madness is about.
The film will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular hero team up with Benedict Wong’s Sorcerer Supreme and Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, a newcomer to the MCU. But what will they be up against?
Well, all signs point to the antagonist of the film being Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch. Based on recent trailers, it seems that the Darkhold she was last seen studying in WandaVision isn’t having the best of influences over her. The character’s desire to find her children might end up putting the entire Multiverse at risk.
While there’s no new trailer just yet, four high-resolution images have just been released from the upcoming project.
New Strange High-Res Photos
Disney has released four new high-resolution images from its upcoming MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. These photos were originally featured in the latest issue of Empire Magazine in lower quality.
The first showcases Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in his new outfit, lit from behind by candles. Could he be looking at Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch? She can be spotted in previous trailers surrounded by a litany of candles, as seen here.
Then there’s an extremely detailed look at Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff. Her location is hard to extract, but the detailing on her costume is immaculate. There seems to be some sort of damage to her suit; it almost looks like a virus spreading. Perhaps from the Darkhold’s influence?
Next is Benedict Wong’s Sorcerer Supreme, also named Wong. Seeing as people don’t normally sit casually with their hands behind their back, it would seem that somebody has the wizard tied up.
Finally, is Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, who will have her first appearance in this adventure. There’s not much to extrapolate from this image; besides that she’s either running away from, or towards, something. Maybe this is the same street Gargantos can be seen on?
Doctor Strange 2 Is Almost Here
While these photos don’t offer much new information, seeing these images in such a high resolution is still something. Anyways, fans already have plenty to latch onto and speculate about when it comes to the upcoming project.
For one, audiences will get to witness the return of Patrick Stewart, most likely in the role many know him from, Professor X. Although that's not confirmed for sure, or even what version of the character he would be playing. Still, the actor is undoubtedly in the film.
He’s also probably far from the last cameo the movie will feature. Rumors have hinted at appearances from Deadpool and other mutants; fans could even see the Fantastic Four on screen for the first time in the MCU.
Strange’s next adventure certainly seems like it’s going to live up to its title. Fingers crossed that it will.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on May 6 later this year.
