Next up on Marvel Studios' slate is Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. After the introduction of the Multiverse in Loki and a little further elaboration in Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are now going to get to dive into the deep end with the upcoming Sam Raimi-directed feature. Who better to take such a tippy journey than the former Sorcerer Supreme himself?
Of course, he won't be alone. One of the main new characters introduced this go-around is Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. What makes her character unique is that not only does she hail from a different universe, but she's one of few beings who can travel between realities.
While it's unclear what threat may be causing the titular madness, plenty of evidence has been pointing toward Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch being the guilty party. It seems the Darkhold she had been studying after WandaVision may not have had the best of influences on her.
For those looking for new content to make the wait until May 6 easier, Marvel Studios released five new posters alongside the tickets going on sale for the project.
New Official Posters for Doctor Strange 2
With tickets now on sale for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse, Marvel Studios unveiled a new batch of posters for the upcoming Benedict Cumberbatch film.
The first is for IMAX and showcases various different reflections of Wanda and Strange alongside some other cast members hiding in the shattered glass reflections. Among them are Mordo, America Chavez, Wong, and Zombie Strange:
The Dolby Cinema poster is the simplest, seeing Doctor Strange in front of the shattered visage of the iconic Sanctum Santorum's window with an ominous shadow of the Scarlet Witch behind him.
Once again playing off of seeing double, the Real D 3D artwork sees the various cast members ghosting across the image. This time, however, underneath a once again ominous-looking Scarlet Witch, is Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez.
The poster for Screen X is relatively straightforward, with the most notable differences being a clear look at Defender Strange, Gargantos, and Wong holding a sword.
Finally, the official theatrical poster shows off some stunning, colorful visuals, while teasing America Chavez' star-shaped Multiversal abilities:
The Madness of the Marvel Multiverse
One of the key elements of Multiverse of Madness looks to be the fun of seeing all the various Variants of the characters audiences know and love. There are at least three other versions of Strange, one other Wong, and potentially several Wanda Maximoffs.
After Loki, it's no surprise that Variants were going to play a big role in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. After all, how could Marvel resist? There's a lot of fun to be had playing around with drastically different versions of lovable characters.
Not only does that apply to these mainstays of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the exploration of Variants also opens the doors to returning faces such as Patrick Stewart, who once portrayed Professor X in the early X-Men films.
Needless to say, fans should expect a wild adventure when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on May 6.
