Doctor Strange, Multiverse of Madness

Somehow, it's been just over five years since the first Doctor Strange movie, in which Benedict Cumberbatch's now-iconic sorcerer was very first introduced to audiences across the world. Now, after having a major hand in the MCU's recent massive events, Stephen Strange finally gets his own spotlight once again in Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

But, from the looks of everything, the conflict could somehow be even direr than what the hero faced back in his first adventure. This time, instead of just one universe being at stake, all of reality is on the brink of extinction.

Rumors indicate that this is the case thanks to Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch. After the events of WandaVision, the character has been studying up on the Darkhold, presumably to try to rescue her kids from wherever she heard them in the series' final post-credits scene.

Thanks to Empire Magazine, fans now have new teases of the craziness they can expect going into the next MCU tale.

New Doctor Strange Poster

Empire Magazine revealed two new posters for the upcoming Marvel Studios film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The first shows the titular hero casting a spell towards the reader, with reality crumbling behind him.

The second is a far trippier sight. The artwork perfectly embodies some of the crazier Doctor Strange VFX, with several characters getting a small spotlight.

Among them are Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez, Benedict Wong's Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor's Mordo, and the green Minotaur Rintrah. Other notable characters are Supreme Strange, Gargantos, and a t-rex-looking dinosaur.

The Madness of the Multiverse

If there's anything this poster does right, it is how it truly captures the Madness the film's title refers to. There's a lot going on in one image, and it's safe to say that same spirit is something the final product will mirror.

This poster certainly doesn't do any favors for Wanda when it comes to making her look like a protagonist of the movie. Her Scarlet Witch hovers in the dark, centered below Strange, with ominous candles floating around her, almost as if doing a ritual. It doesn't seem that her studies of the Darkhold are going to be doing anyone any favors.

Seeing all of the many portals on the new artwork is a good reminder of just how many cameos are rumored for the project. While none of them made it on the poster, from all the whispers going around, they could have easily added plenty more portals holding familiar faces; such as Deadpool, Patrick Stewart's Professor X, or Ghost Rider.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on May 6 later this year.
