Anticipation is at an all-time high for Zack Snyder's Justice League, which is set to release March 18, 2021 on HBO Max.
In preparation for the main trailer which will release February 14, several teasers have provided new looks at previously unseen footage. The new footage has showcased some of the biggest changes from the original cut including Steppenwolf's new look and the first DCEU appearance of Darkseid.
But most notably of all, the horrific CGI of Henry Cavill's mustache will be totally absent from the film as all of Whedon's reshot scenes have been cut.
A new teaser showed off even more scenes from the new cut of Justice League, in addition to the inclusion of a brand new character in the film...
GRANNY GOODNESS CONFIRMED FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE
A shot of the villainous Darkseid in the latest teaser for Zack Snyder's Justice League additionally showcased two other characters.
One of these figures (to the right of Darkseid) is Superman & New Gods villain Granny Goodness.
Through a comment posted on Vero — a social platform on which Zack Snyder is very active — the director has confirmed the new character will feature in the film.
It's currently not clear who the actress shown in the role is or how big her role will be in the film. However, Snyder confirmed, following some speculation, that the actress is not James Bond star Judi Dench, saying “I wish. But no.”
WHO IS GRANNY GOODNESS?
Granny Goodness is a major villain for Superman and the New Gods. The villain — who made her live-action debut in Smallville — hails from Apokolips, the Darkseid-ruled planet from which Steppenwolf and the Parademons also originate. With a New Gods movie currently in the early stages of development, it's entirely possible Goodness could also play a role in the film.
The amount of footage shown on Apokolips and the huge number of characters from there seems to be suggesting the planet will play a big role in the new cut of the film. Those who have followed the DCEU since Snyder's reign will be aware the director originally intended for Justice League to be a two-part movie, which would have put the heroes up against Darkseid.
While this vision will never truly see reality as this appears to be the end of the line for Snyder's DCEU, it's exciting to see a peak at what was intended for the future.
Zack Snyder's Justice League will debut on March 18, 2021, exclusively on HBO Max.
