With the world is still sequestered inside due to the Coronavirus quarantine orders, movie fans worldwide are using huge virtual gatherings to come together as a community and enjoy some of the best recent movies. Particularly for Marvel Cinematic Universe fans, this current timeframe is even more meaningful with it being the release anniversaries arrive for both 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and 2019's Avengers: Endgame . Thousands of MCU diehards are banding together to enjoy virtual watch parties for both movies, going so far as getting some of the biggest names directly involved in the films to join in with the fun. The latest of these watch parties has revealed a very cool look at an alternate meeting between two of the franchise's biggest stars.

During a watch party viewing of Avengers: Infinity War , via a release from Comicbook.com , screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely shared a behind-the-scenes picture of Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange adorned in the Iron Man armor. This unused scene seems to be either an alternate version or an addition to the Q-ship rescue scene, and the costume matches up with a piece of recently-released concept art depicting the Sorcerer Supreme as the MCU's original avenger.
So, there were other versions of this rescue. Some were just too awesome (and long) to keep. But still, one can dream... #Infinitywar #QuarantineWatchParty -SM pic.twitter.com/ZToVfWpnHg
The movie's screenwriters explained that this scene on the Q-ship simply would have been too long to keep in the movie, but it doesn't make the scene any less cool to imagine. It's hard to say exactly what would lead to Stephen Strange being forced to suit up as Iron man, but seeing Benedict Cumberbatch really suited up along with the concept art are pretty unforgettable. The Iron Man/Doctor Strange combo suit is just so cool, with the Eye of Aggamotto replacing Tony's arc reactor and the magical shields replacing the energy blasts from the suits hand stabilizers. There are also more behind-the-scenes shots from the film suggesting how seriously the filmmakers were considering this scene for the film.
During the lead-up to the theatrical release for Avengers: Infinity War , images and clips floated around on the internet showing Robert Downey, Jr. having a fun time wearing Doctor Strange's Cloak of Levitation. The original consensus seemed to be that it was just the film's star joking around and having fun with props as he has been known to do on set, but it's also quite possible that this went along with Stephen Strange's Iron Man suit-up. It may never be clear exactly what led to these events in the film's original script, but it doesn't even matter very much. This scene would have had fans screaming with excitement as much as any other scene that made it to the film's final cut.
