Streaming services are currently helping redefine the modern era of storytelling with their new platform for shows and movies.

Leading the pack in this department is Disney+, which Marvel Studios is utilizing to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe with exclusives like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and more. HBO Max will soon be jumping into the fray the same way, bringing projects like Peacemaker and Green Lantern Corps in to bring more to the DC Extended Universe's lore.

Director James Gunn is one of the rare individuals involved with both major streaming hubs.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director will be bringing the team's holiday special to Disney+ at the end of 2022 before Vol. 3 comes to theaters on May 3, 2023. For DC, he's spearheading the Peacemaker spin-off show with John Cena after bringing the premiere for The Suicide Squad in just under three months.

The latest quotes from Gunn himself reveal how much he genuinely loves this new direction.

The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker director James Gunn took to his Instagram stories to answer a couple of fan questions regarding his DCEU experience.

One question asked Gunn if he would be up for taking on another HBO Max show. Gunn enthusiastically said yes, revealing that the people at HBO Max have been "amazing partners."

HBO Max - and I can't stress this enough - have been amazing partners & Absolutely lovely people. [I would do another HBO Max show] in a heartbeat."

Gunn also tackled his time working with Peacemaker star John Cena, whom he described as "an enormous star with no ego." Gunn also compliments his improv skills and his "complete integrity:"

UPDATE: Gunn later retweeted the news from The Direct's own DCU Twitter account, again expressing "how much (he) appreciate(s) the folks at HBO Max." Gunn commended their support "despite numerous obstacles," hoping that he, the cast and crew "are equally good partners:"

ALL PRAISE FOR JOHN CENA AND HBO MAX

James Gunn appears to have nothing but compliments for his experience with HBO Max, and it doesn't seem like it would be a shock to see him return to work with the streaming service in the future.

As for John Cena, it's great to hear about Gunn having such a great time working with him on their first DCEU series for HBO Max. Cena is regarded as one of the biggest names in Hollywood, and to hear that he and Gunn had such a great time working together should mean great things for how Peacemaker will turn out.

Cena will star in this series after first appearing in this summer's The Suicide Squad, which is slowly building hype after officially receiving an R-rating for its release. Gunn was allowed the freedom to basically do whatever he wanted creatively, and with this new take on DC's anti-hero team, that freedom should lend itself to an exciting final product.

Time will tell if Gunn works with HBO Max after production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is set to begin later this year.
