With a world as expansive as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it sometimes takes characters years before they link up on screen. Iconic duos like Doctor Strange and Tony Stark took a couple of movies before they ever shared a scene.
Even as fans anxiously await the debut of new characters, the hype for fresh pairings can be just as high.
ELIJAH RICHARDSON'S DREAM MCU CO-STARS
He may not be officially in the MCU yet, but stars are already lining up to work with Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TheDirect.com, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Elijah Richardson named the Merc with a Mouth as the top character he's hoping to share the screen with one day.
"I would love to work with Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool. I watched Deadpool like, my friend actually put me onto Deadpool. Before that I didn’t really watch it. He put me on, and I was like, ‘This is good.’ I then went to watch Deadpool 2 by myself and like, I don’t know. There’s something special about him where I just want to work with him."
While Deadpool is Richardson's number one, the actor mentioned he would "love to work with anyone in the MCU," specifically citing some of the Marvel Universe's fellow young stars.
"I would love to work with you know, Tom Holland, Zendaya, a bunch of young people from the MCU."
Despite the big dreams to star opposite new characters, Richardson emphasized he has no issues running it back with his co-stars from his debut MCU project.
"And one quick thing, I would love to work with the cast of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier again. I would love to."
ELI BRADLEY AND WADE WILSON?
With the knowledge that Ryan Reynolds's Deadpool is the lone character from the Fox X-Men franchise confirmed to continue in the MCU, a crossover with Elijah Richardson's Eli Bradley is definitely possible.
If Eli does follow his comic route and assumes the alias Patriot as the leader of the Young Avengers, there's every reason to believe the Merc with a Mouth could find himself messing with the adolescent Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The sky is the limit for the writers' room if Deadpool ends up appearing as the older bad influence to a band of Young Avengers.
While Deadpool's future is anyone's guess, a much more probable character for Elijah Richardson to act opposite of is Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Young Avengers continues to feel more and more likely by the day, and while Spidey is not known to be on the roster in the comics, it feels wrong to exclude the MCU's resident teenager from the group.
Sure, he may not end up becoming an official member, but a mentor scene here and there to the squad would fit in perfectly. Peter Parker is by no means as tenured as some of his adult Avenger counterparts, but he knows a thing or two about how to balance being a kid with world-saving responsibilities. It may just be "hopes and dreams" for Richardson now, but his MCU wishes may just materialize over the next couple of years.
Richardson can be seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, streaming exclusively on Disney+.
