Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is rumored to have a plethora of cameos from past and current Marvel stars, mainly due to the film's use of the concept of alternate realities. The sequel's second trailer already confirmed the inclusion of Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier into the mix alongside teases of a Captain Marvel Variant and the appearance of another Armored Avenger.
One of the much-talked-about cameos that gained traction from fans is the potential involvement of Bruce Campbell, considering the actor's close friendship with Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi. Campbell had different cameo roles in each of Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy: a ring announcer in 2002's Spider-Man, an usher in 2004's Spider-Man 2, and a French Maître d’ in Spider-Man 3.
Back in 2020, Campbell previously shared his insight on the production status of Doctor Strange 2 amidst the pandemic-related delays, seemingly indicating then that he had behind-the-scenes knowledge about the movie.
Campbell continued to attract the attention of Marvel fans by posting cryptic teases on social media. Eventually, the veteran actor confirmed that he filmed scenes for Multiverse of Madness, but he admitted that he's unsure if those will remain in the final cut.
Now, as the film's release inches closer, Campbell has trolled fans yet again with a new post.
Bruce Campbell Trolls Marvel Fans
In celebration of April Fool's Day, Bruce Campbell shared a new post on Twitter to tease fans about his appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The Evil Dead actor posted an image of himself inside a make-up room, with him showcasing a photoshopped version of himself to resemble Benedict Cumberbatch's MCU hero while sharing a hilarious caption:
"I always feel a little strange when I work on a Sam Raimi movie. #multiverse"
This isn't the first time that Campbell trolled fans during April Fools. In 2021, the actor shared a fake script page from the Doctor Strange sequel.
Will Bruce Campbell Appear in Doctor Strange 2?
Bruce Campbell's latest tease is clearly a joke, but it is aligned with the confirmation that Multiverse of Madness will feature at least three Variants of Doctor Strange. It's unknown though if Campbell will end up being the fourth version of the future Sorcerer Supreme.
Given that Campbell already confirmed that he filmed scenes for the MCU film, this development has led to the usual fan-driven speculation about his unknown character. While it's unlikely that Campbell will end up portraying his Evil Dead character, it's possible that he will only have a minor role in the sequel.
From a random passerby to one of the sorcerers in Kamar-Taj, the possibilities are endless for Campbell's MCU debut. A past rumor indicated that Tobey Maguire's web-slinger could show up in Multiverse of Madness, thus presenting the opportunity for Campbell's character from Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy to pop up somewhere in the movie.
Whether he's in the movie or not, Campbell's continued promotion of Multiverse of Madness on social media and in interviews is an added boost to the sequel's marketing.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters on May 6.
