Thor: Love and Thunder is the highly anticipated follow-up to Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok , which many agreed reinvigorated the Thor franchise.
The film is still currently in its writing process , with Taika Waititi hard at work to give fans "something different." Returning star Natalie Portman teased that the film would indeed be another humorous adventure, saying that Thor: Love and Thunder will be " really silly."
Images of Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi at the beach together indicated that progress on the film would be ramping up. It was then reported that the film would begin production early next year, taking place either in January or March 2021.

WHAT THIS MEANS
While filming is not due to begin until January at the earliest, it is likely that Christian Bale has arrived in Australia to prepare for Thor: Love and Thunder prior to the start of production. Prep work may need to be completed well in advance of filming, such as rehearsals with the rest of the cast, stunt and fight choreography, costume fitting, and more.
It is also likely that Bale will have to quarantine himself for 14 days upon his arrival in Australia due to strict guidelines. Arriving in Australia now would essentially give Bale around two months to prep for the start of shooting, so it makes sense that the actor would be arriving well ahead of the production start date.
It is unknown when other cast members will join Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi down under. Natalie Portman was believed to have been in Australia recently, though it could not be confirmed whether this was related to the film. Bale arriving now could indicate his importance to the film's story, needing plenty of time to prepare for his villainous role.
Thor: Love and Thunder is slated to release theatrically on February 11, 2022, with Christian Bale appearing as the film's villain.
