DC's Legends of Tomorrow has been a stalwart branch of The CW's Arrowverse roster of programming, with the time-traveling superhero show now in its seventh season. The series stars Caity Lotz as Sara Lance as she and her team of misfits bounce around the timeline fixing things that go wrong. The series itself has gone through quite a few cast departures and changes in its time on the air, most notably losing Brandon Routh, who played The Atom, during Season 5.

Booster Gold is a fairly well-known DC comic book character who hails from the far-flung future. He uses his advanced technology and gear to fight crime and often travels to the present day to team up with other DC heroes. He's also typically depicted as quite arrogant, using his future tech to increase his level of fame and notoriety.

Previously, Booster Gold was thought to be off-limits to the television side of the DC Universe due to the character being reserved for potential feature film outings. However, things might have changed.

Booster Gold Joins The Legends?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Scrubs alum Donald Faison has been cast for the Season 7 finale of Legends of Tomorrow.

The description of Faison's character heavily implies that he will be portraying Booster Gold with the text noting that he's searching for "fame, fortune and glory:"

"The Legends first encounter this character at a different phase of his career whose golden years are in the rearview mirror. He is good guy deep down; his ego is looking for a boost that only fame, fortune, and glory can provide. While he claims to have been recruited to work for a mysterious time organization, he wasn't offered much of a choice in the matter. As an unauthorized time traveler with high-profile aspirations, he developed a mischievous streak and cuts a few corners along the way to achieving his dreams. He knows all about the Legends of Tomorrow and finds them inspiring because they are the kind of heroes who started at the ground floor, as opposed to inheriting their powers from an alien planet, a spider bite, or wealthy parents. But the big question is whether his respect for the team is going to be able to help the Legends out of hot water or get them into hotter water!"

The character will appear in the final episode of the seventh season, and Faison will also join the main cast as a series regular, should Legends be picked up for another year.

The Legends' Team Gets a Boost

Given that description, it's exceedingly obvious that Faison is playing the Arrowverse's version of Michael Jon Carter aka, Booster Gold. It would definitely be a major bait-and-switch if the character in question wasn't Booster.

As mentioned above, there was, in fact, an embargo on his character appearing in the Arrowverse. For years, a Booster Gold movie in the works that would see the time-traveling rogue team up with Blue Beetle, his frequent heroic collaborator in the comics. That movie was never put into production, which is likely why The CW now has access to Booster.

It's actually quite rare for the heroes in Legends to suit up in their superhero costumes. In fact, most of them don't have any specialized uniforms, often just going into battle in era-appropriate clothing. The show hasn't always operated like this, but it has been this way for some time. Perhaps Booster Gold's arrival will mix up that formula a bit and let the team wear their suits a bit more often.

The season finale of DC's Legends of Tomorrow will air on March 2, 2022.
