There was a smorgasbord of new Easter eggs in the latest Loki episode, "Journey Into Mystery," that fans enjoyed spotting. Ranging from silly ones like Thanos' personalized helicopter to more interesting ones like a reference to Qeng Enterprises from the comics, which is directly tied to the villainous time-hopping Kang the Conqueror.
One particular Easter egg among them that stood out to fans was the appearance of Yellowjacket's helmet, albeit an incredibly enlarged version of it. Some fans have speculated that it isn't just a coincidence, especially with Jonathan Majors joining Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as Kang the Conqueror.
Not much is known about the prequel, but one potential slip-up by Evangeline Lilly may have spoiled the return of Corey Stoll. Now, much to Lilly's relief, a new report may have just confirmed it.
THE MCU RETURN OF YELLOWJACKET
In the latest Vanity Fair podcast episode of "Still Watching," senior writer Joanna Robinson stated that Corey Stoll would return as Darren Cross in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
As the hosts were discussing Loki and the many Easter eggs layered throughout the latest episode, Robinson took particular note of the "large version" of the Yellowjacket helmet:
"There's a Yellowjacket helmet. This large version of the helmet that I suppose Corey Stoll wore in Ant-Man and the only reason that is super interesting to me is because there's a theory going around that all of the TVA stuff is taking place in the Quantum Realm because it's a place out of time."
Robinson then confidently asserted that Corey Stoll would return for the threequel "in some shape:"
"I don't know if that's an indication of something to come, but I do know that Corey Stoll, in some shape, will be back for Ant-Man 3."
IN SOME SHAPE: BIG OR SMALL
It was interesting for fans to see, of all things, a gigantic Yellowjacket helmet in The Void. Making it likely that a Variant of Darren Cross was pruned with his suit and attempted to fight Alioth, only to be devoured by it and leaving only his helmet, just like what befell Classic Loki.
As for how Corey Stoll will factor into the Ant-Man threequel, it's hard to determine since fans saw him seemingly get squished to death as he shrank in Ant-Man. Perhaps it's actually possible he survived and has continued to live on in the Quantum Realm by himself, similar to how Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet van Dyne was able to survive for decades before her rescue in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently scheduled to release in theaters on February 17, 2023.
