Fans were rattled recently when some unexpected news hit the web: Netflix was going to be losing its original programming based on some of Marvel’s famous characters, such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher. They would no longer be able to be streamed on the service that they came into this world on; instead, audiences would have to go over to Disney+ to watch any of the series.
Netflix’s Defender universe was once its pride and joy, even with some of the critical failures it brought about, such as Iron Fist. Many fans claimed Daredevil to be some of the best live-action Marvel content to exist.
With the various series’ now on Disney+, viewers have noticed a small yet important change: In the new cuts of the shows, every acknowledgement of Netflix has been removed from their iconic credits sequences.
Netflix Name Removed
In the original opening credits for the Netflix-distributed productions, the service’s logo could be seen clear as day in the opening credits. Now that their 6 Marvel shows have been moved to Disney+, that Netflix branding has been removed.
While the transition is natural for the most part, like the updated credits for Daredevil below, there is one instance where the new change is hilariously obvious.
As noticed by Reddit user 4ar0n, in Jessica Jones Season 1, Episode 2, where the “A Netflix Original Series” graphic used to reside, the white scribble underneath still remains—making it clear that something was removed.
The other episodes of the Kristen Ritter-led series has had that white scribble scrubbed out; this is the only installment where it was retained.
The video of this change can be seen in the Reddit post below.
I noticed something interesting, in the Jessica Jones intro scene, the credits (I assume for Netflix) were half-assedly removed. from marvelstudios
Disney+’s New Marvel Shows
Small hiccups like this are always fun to catch. Fans should get their kick out of it now, as it will likely be adjusted fairly soon when the folks at Disney end up noticing its mistake.,
Some were worried the transition of the shows onto Disney’s service, which is generally family-friendly-oriented, would be censored in some way. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case, and it was just company slogans that were adjusted.
It’s hard to believe how Netflix was actually able to lose the rights to stream the shows that were originally its productions. It almost feels like Disney+ is stealing them, despite it all being perfectly legal and by the books.
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher are all now available to stream on Disney+.
