HBO's uber-popular post-apocalyptic series, The Last of Us, may be approaching its final chapter. After the first season adapted Naughty Dog's original game, Season 2 shifted focus to Part II, bringing one of gaming's most shocking moments to the screen, Kaitlyn Dever's Abby killing Pedro Pascal's Joel, setting Bella Ramsey's Ellie on a path of revenge. Now, reports suggest the critically acclaimed series is heading toward its end.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman has foretold the future of HBO's The Last of Us series. Writing on X, Richtman stated plainly: "The Last of Us Season 3 is built to be the last one." 

If accurate, that would bring the television adaptation of Naughty Dog's beloved game franchise to a close after just three seasons.

Ryan Butcher (Cameron Crovetti) returned to face his father in the final episode of The Boys, but the series finale has left many wondering if the young supe lost all of his powers. Ryan was revealed to be the secret son of Homelander (Antony Starr), who assaulted Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) wife, Becca (Shantel VanSanten). Ryan was raised in secret until Homelander learned of his existence, and the war for his loyalty began. 

Season 5 found Ryan firmly opposed to Homelander, but he still couldn't beat his father in a fight and ended up being brutally beaten by him, almost to death, in Episode 3. His superpowers, identical to his father's, allowed him to heal, and Ryan returned after a brief absence for the series finale.

The Boys Season 5 finale revealed The Deep's fate in the chaotic final battle between the titular team and Homelander's forces. The Boys Season 5 pushed Deep to the limit after he endorsed a controversial underwater oil pipeline in a public service announcement. This move backfired when Black Noir II sabotaged it, causing a massive spill that killed billions of sea creatures. The penultimate episode of Season 5 revealed that the ocean life blamed The Deep and warned him never to return, or they would kill him.

The Boys series finale brought significant changes for Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Homelander (Antony Starr). The superhero satire series on Prime Video concluded on May 20, bringing an end to the long-running rivalry between Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and his team, the Boys, and the Vought Supes led by Homelander.

The Boys, Season 5, Episode 8, "Blood and Bone," was a dramatic conclusion to five seasons and featured major revelations for Homelander and Kimiko in particular. After spending much of Season 5 searching for ways to finally end Homelander's reign of terror. In the end, it was Homelander's weakness that was his downfall, and it was Kimiko, with some newfound powers, who delivered the critical hit.

Natalie Alyn Lind opened up about stepping into Dutton Ranch, her dream crossovers, and how her character is poised to leave a lasting mark on the Yellowstone legacy. Set after the game-changing events of the main Yellowstone series, Dutton Ranch continues the story of Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) as they navigate a fresh start in South Texas while raising their adopted son, Carter (Finn Little). 

Lind joins the stacked cast of Dutton Ranch (which already includes Annette Bening, Jai Courtney, and Ed Harris) as Oreana, a striking young woman with a free-spirited nature. Official first-look photos from Paramount+ confirm that Oreana is Carter's love interest, setting the stage for drama in the series. 

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The Direct, Natalie Alyn Lind, who fans may know from The Gifted and The Goldbergs, reflected on Oreana's contribution to the Yellowstone legacy of strong, driven female characters. She noted that Oreana's compelling arc makes her a must-see, as she transforms into "someone completely different from how [fans] first met her."

The Testaments strongly hinted that Becka would suffer the same fate as in the books after she made an emotionally driven decision in Episode 9. Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale spinoff introduced Becka Grove (Mattea Conforti) as Agnes Jemima's (Chase Infiniti) close friend and classmate at Gilead's girls' academy, harboring strong feelings for her. 

Becka underwent a dramatic and tragic turning point in Testaments Episode 9, "Marat Sade," with her shifting from a traumatized, fearful woman to an active agent of violent retribution sparked by her shocking actions that led to a tragic death. 

The Testaments revealed that Becka has been engaged to Garth, the son of a high-ranking Commander in Gilead who is secretly part of the Mayday resistance. However, Becka's deepening feelings for Agnes made her dread her arranged marriage to Garth, and the situation worsened when she discovered what her adoptive father, Dr. Grove, had done to Agnes. 

The Boys' next spin-off, Vought Rising, just revealed its first trailer, but there's a catch. Despite playing a major role throughout The Boys Season 5, Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy was omitted from the series finale, having just been placed back on ice by his biological son, Anthony Starr's Homelander. The unfortunate omission comes ahead of Soldier Boy's upcoming Amazon Prime Video prequel series, Vought Rising, which will premiere in 2027 and pair him off with Aya Cash's Stormfront for a 1950s murder mystery tied to the origins of the supe corp. 

Amazon Prime Video celebrated The Boys' series finale with a Los Angeles premiere event, where attendees were treated to a short first trailer for Vought Rising that, unfortunately, hasn't been released to the rest of the world.

The trailer opens with quick glimpses at Soldier Boy and Clara Vought (aka Stormfront, aka Liberty) looking at each other in civilian clothing. 

As part of Warner Bros. Discovery's annual panel at the Annecy International Animation Festival in 2024, three spin-offs of classic Cartoon Network shows were announced and slated for HBO Max: Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, Foster's Funtime for Imaginary Friends, and Adventure Time: Side Quests. The latter will be the third spin-off in the Adventure Time franchise, after Distant Lands and Fionna & Cake, both of which served as continuations of the series.

Adventure Time: Side Quests was recently announced to premiere on June 29, not on HBO Max but on Disney+ (via Deadline). While it will still stream on HBO Max outside the United States, it's another unsurprising example of Warner Bros. moving away from its initial kid-focused content.

Disney+ rolled out a major upgrade that bundle subscribers have been eagerly awaiting. Disney+ users have greatly benefited from the streamer's robust features, including multi-profile support, kid-safe settings, easy offline downloads, and 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos. In December 2023, Disney+ (via Deadline) added an expanded Hulu section, marking the start of the streamer's efforts to integrate a "one-app experience," and it was later rolled out in full in March 2024. And now, a new feature strongly cemented the combined integration of the two sister streaming apps. 

Variety reported that Disney is adding even more Hulu integration features, with profile syncing as the standout update today, May 19. The new, long-awaited feature allows users to sync their respective Disney+ and Hulu profiles in the app, including watch history, watchlist, and recommendations. 

This is part of Disney's efforts to create a more unified experience and is considered by many an "upgrade" because it makes Disney+ recommendations significantly smarter and more effective.

Widow's Bay's Episode 5 trailer officially confirmed the arrival of a brand-new threat that could further derail the stability of the lowly town and drive more chaos. Apple TV+'s new trending horror series is ramping up the stakes, following Tom Loftis' efforts to draw in outsiders, which has led to concern among superstitious residents that the island where the small town is in is "waking up." Episode 4 doubled down on the chaos after a party turned into a full-blown nightmare, and the latest installment ended with Reverend Bryce's tragic suicide after he discovered something horrific about the island. 

Apple TV+ officially released a new sneak peek for Widow's Bay Episode 5, confirming that the upcoming episode, "The Creepy House," will center around Tom's teenage son, Evan Loftis, who is about to explore a haunted house before being stopped by the sheriff. 

Off Campus Season 1 confirmed whether or not Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston) stole Hannah Wells' song, and the answer would surprise fans of the book and the series. Amazon Prime Video's adaptation of Elle Kennedy's romance novel of the same name introduced a new version of Justin Kohl. 

Instead of being a football player at Briar University, Off Campus expanded his role to become a musician and lead singer in a band, aligning closely with Hannah Wells' passion and dream career trajectory. Mike Colter revealed where Evil might've gone should it have continued into a fifth season. The Paramount+ series, created by Robert and Michelle King, starred Colter as a Catholic priest who partners with a forensic psychologist to uncover the truth behind supernatural-seeming events. The series was a hit on CBS before moving to Paramount+, but in 2024, it was announced that the show would end with Season 4.

Evil's cancellation came as a surprise, particularly to its cast and crew. Colter told Decider after Evil's cancellation that "we always thought we had about six seasons in us." Colter recently spoke to The Direct at Fan Expo Vancouver, reiterating that the team was "blindsided" by the cancellation of Evil, which occurred when the show was "building momentum." The star said they'd even been anticipating a potential premature pickup:

Mike Colter: "We were blindsided. We didn’t realize the show was gonna be pulled. We just got back from the writer’s strike, I believe, and we were waiting to have our show premiere and it got pushed. The date got pushed and then we were anticipating a pickup, maybe a premature pickup even though it hadn’t aired yet, because we had been sidelined a few times, because of COVID and because of the writer’s strike, so we thought we could try to get the momentum back and be consistent now that we know where are, and we know where to find us, and we’re on the same platform and streamer. And we were building momentum. People were enjoying the show and finding it anew. And so, yeah, it caught us off-guard."

Chicago Fire's Season 14 finale was full of twists and turns, and its wild ending featured a massive fire threatening the lives of the firefighters at Firehouse 51. The budget cuts to Chicago Fire weren't just an ongoing storyline within the show; they also reflected the show's real problems, which had already led to the exits of key characters like Darren Ritter and Sam Carver and reduced roles for some of the main cast. 

Chicago Fire Season 14's final episode juggled several storylines, such as Herrmann's surprise vow renewal with his wife, Severide's tough career decision, and Chief Pascal's surprise return. 

The finale ended with a high-stakes structure fire, during which all units from Firehouse 51 responded. As the team tried to evacuate the facility due to the unusually difficult nature of the fire, a massive explosion erupted that trapped some members of the team inside, while truck members faced the blast directly. A Mayday call went out amid the chaos, and the season ended without resolving who survived or who died. 

The ending of Netflix's Nemesis has left many wondering what Ebony's future in the show holds, and the series's creator, Courtney A. Kemp, has shed some light on it. The new crime thriller on Netflix follows a police detective and a criminal mastermind stuck in a cat-and-mouse game in Los Angeles. Nemesis stars Y'lan Noel as Coltrane Wilder, the aforementioned career criminal, and Cleopatra Coleman (known for her role as V. Stiviano in Clipped) as Ebony, Coltrane's wife.

Throughout Nemesis, Ebony serves as Coltrane's loyal wife, although she isn't too happy about his return to crime. On top of that, little does she know that one of her neighborhood friends, Candace (Gabrielle Dennis), is the wife of Coltrane's nemesis, LAPD Detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law). Ebony is also dealing with the trauma of a miscarriage in the series, and eventually becomes pregnant again. 

Audiences watched the drama unfold between Ebony, Candace, Coltrane, and Isaiah throughout Nemesis' thrilling eight episodes, which were released on May 14, but the show's ending has left fans with lots of questions and hungry for more. 

Off Campus Season 1 introduced a core group of Briar University students who will grow into a tight-knit chosen family. In Elle Kennedy's Off Campus romance series, four hockey players and the women who stole their hearts start as college friends navigating love, hockey, and academics. In the meantime, Apple TV+ has come out with a new thrilling horror series that will fill the void in Welcome to Derry fans' lives. 

Apple TV+'s new show, Widow's Bay, premiered on April 29, and it quickly gained rave reviews, with a 97% approval rate with critics and 92% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The series is a quirky horror starring Matthew Rhys as the mayor of a small town on an island off the coast of New England, who is trying to revamp the town's image, which has been overshadowed by residents' belief that it is cursed. 

Amazon Prime Video's Off Campus Season 1 included many notable story beats from Elle Kennedy's The Score, the third novel of the book series of the same name, chronicling the unexpected love story between Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie Hayes (Mika Abdalla).
