Marvel Studios is looking forward to a massive year of content in 2022, which will include the first time any hero has gotten a fourth solo movie with July's Thor: Love and Thunder. Bringing back key recent players like Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie alongside stars of the past such as Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, the sequel looks to take the God of Thunder to new levels of insanity.

Chris Hemsworth's story will be first and foremost as he explores new corners of the galaxy and rediscovers his true self after a rough go in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. However, his adventures will be far from the only ones coming to the forefront thanks to Jane Foster becoming worthy of wielding Mjolnir and Valkyrie finding her own place as the ruler of New Asgard.

Recently, Thompson teased another side of her heroine's story by hinting that she would have some "weird skills" and somewhat "erotic" new powers to explore, including the ability to bring people into Valhalla when they are close to death. While there's a chance that this may happen in the movie, Thompson recently took a moment to clarify what she actually meant when discussing those abilities.

Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson took to Instagram to clarify comments she made previously about Valkyrie's powers in the upcoming fourth solo movie.

Referencing her comments about Valkyrie's new "erotic" powers, she admitted that these were powers Valkyrie has in the comics that Thomspon enjoyed reading about. She made it clear that these powers were not necessarily coming into play in Thor: Love and Thunder and that she was not in the business of giving away spoilers:

"In talking about Valkyrie to W Mag, I was talking generally about powers that are canon and that I loved in reading the comics and not Thor: Love and Thunder. I shan’t be a home for spoilers."

Thompson Talking Valkyrie in Comics, Not Movies

Tessa Thomspon has taken various opportunities to share stories from both her past MCU movies and her current work on the upcoming Thor outing. From sharing an image of herself and Tom Holland from Endgame to providing a look at her new outfit for this year's solo movie, the MCU veteran is regularly one of the franchise's biggest public supporters.

Even with that enthusiasm, however, she made it clear through this post that she didn't intend to give away any false information about her expanded role in the 2022 Thor sequel.

The powers that she mentioned are a key part of Valkyrie's journey through her time in Marvel Comics, although they haven't been explored in either of her MCU appearances to date. Of course, now that she's the new King of Asgard, these powers could come into play as she takes on more responsibilities and challenges in a post-Endgame universe alongside the God of Thunder.

With Love and Thunder now about six months from its debut, fans will be eager to find out how Valkyrie will expand her powerset along with her increased duties as Asgard's ruler. Whether this comes with a true introduction to the Asgardian afterlife in Valhalla is a mystery, but taking into account the teases that have been laid out so far, that's a major step the movie could very well take.

Thor: Love and Thunder debuts in theaters on July 6, 2022.
