Now that 2021 is finally here, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to embark on a year with more content than any in its history. Four new movies and six new Disney+ series will premiere over the next twelve months. And later Phase 4 projects are primed to begin production throughout 2021.

The MCU’s next feature to kick off production is Thor: Love and Thunder, which will be the starting Marvel summer blockbuster in May 2022. Stars like Chris Hemsworth and Christian Bale have already arrived in Australia to prep for filming with director Taika Waititi as their co-workers slowly trickle in for the party as well.

Included in this bunch are Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and their inclusion is increasing the likelihood that the rest of the team will follow behind them. A new social media blast from one of the actors in this franchise is lending more credence to that theory.

NEWS

In a new Instagram story, Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan posted a very short video of her recent flight landing in Sydney, Australia. This is very likely an indication that she will be a part of the cast for Thor: Love and Thunder considering production is set to begin in the Aussie city this month.

WHAT THIS MEANS

This post marks four cast members from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies that are currently in Australia, including Groot actor Vin Diesel, who was spotted arriving in Sydney nearly two months ago.

Chris Pratt and Pom Klementieff both confirmed that they are joining the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder after various reports from trade outlets and social media, while Gillan and Diesel haven't confirmed why they are in Australia. Even without this news set in stone, these occurrences seem less likely to be coincidences with every new Guardians actor that finds their way down under.

The only two members of the team that remain unconfirmed are Bradley Cooper as Rocket and Dave Bautista as Drax, although Cooper's role would likely be a voiceover credit as has been the case in his four previous outings.

Gillan's role in this movie would be unsurprising considering that Nebula was with the rest of the Guardians aboard the Benatar with Thor in tow at the end of Avengers: Endgame. As is the case with her co-stars, it's still unknown how substantial her role will be in the fourth Thor solo movie, thought she should add to the increasing firepower behind the God of Thunder.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to begin production this month before its anticipated release on May 6, 2022.
