The Suicide Squad Movie Background

One of the most exciting upcoming DC projects is easily James Gunn's The Suicide Squad . With the trailer having shown some awesome stuff , it's easy to say that fans are in for a treat. How could one not be excited when King Shark is involved?

The film looks to a much different beast than 2016's Suicide Squad . While it does include Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag, most of the former Suicide Squad members are nowhere to be found in this new iteration. Instead, nearly the whole roster will be different.

With the brand-new comes James Gunn's signature flare and also a heavy R-rating. So, expect lots of violence, and blood everywhere. James Gunn even teased that most of the team won't make it to the credits .

For those waiting to see more on The Suicide Squad , well then you're in luck, as some exciting new imagery has arrived...

THE SUICIDE SQUAD GRACES TOTAL FILM MAGAZINE

In a Tweet , James Gunn shared two new covers for the upcoming Total Film magazine featuring new looks at the ensemble cast of The Suicide Squad.

The first cover will be on newsstands Friday, April 30:

The Suicide Squad Total Film Magazine 1
Total Film

The second cover, which is for subscribers only, is out now:

The Suicide Squad Total Film Magazine 2
Total Film

Gunn's Tweet showing off the covers can be viewed below:

HARLEY QUINN, RICK FLAG, KING SHARK, OH MY...

There isn't much to make out from the two images, though at the very least it is a brand-new look at the team. On one, King Shark is front and center, while John Cena's Peacemaker takes that honor on the other. T

here doesn't seem to be any significance to where any characters are positioned, as it seems randomized on each cover. For example, two of the key characters in Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn and Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag are off to the sides in both.

Almost everyone seems to be present except for Peter Capaldi's The Thinker. It's likely that his role in the film is fairly significant given how much information is being hidden about the character. Though, with this being James Gunn, he could also just have one scene before losing his head.

As for the time of the day on each, there doesn't seem to be any significance, however, the sunset cover could possibly be a tease towards the likely demise of most of the team.

With the film being 100% complete, fans should expect more promotional materials for the film to be released as August gets closer. Though, fans have surprisingly gotten quite a lot in that regard . Hopefully, by the time the film comes out, there will still be plenty of surprises.

The Suicide Squad premieres in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
