Star Wars A Droid Story

Disney's Investor Day brought an avalanche of announcements about new Star Wars content such as Andor and Rangers of the New Republic, but it seems that Lucasfilm hasn't forgotten its original heroes.

Even though the Skywalker Saga is now complete, R2-D2 and C-3PO still have stories of their own to tell.

CONFIRMATION

During the company's four-hour Investor Day Presentation, Lucasfilm announced that Lucasfilm Animation is teaming up with Industrial Light & Magic for A Droid Story. This animated film will feature R2-D2, C-3PO, and a brand-new character.

In addition, Lucasfilm had the following to share about A Droid Story:

"As Lucasfilm continues to develop new stories, the intersection of animation and visual effects offers new opportunities to explore. Lucasfilm Animation will be teaming up with Lucasfilm’s visual effects team, Industrial Light & Magic, to develop a special Star Wars adventure for Disney+, A Droid Story. This epic journey will introduce us to a new hero, guided by legendary duo R2-D2 and C-3PO."

WHAT THIS MEANS

R2-D2 and C-3PO on an epic journey? It's a safe bet that this adventure of theirs will be anything but smooth, but definitely entertaining!

What's especially intriguing about A Droid Story is that Lucasfilm Animation and Industrial Light & Magic are joining forces to "develop new stories" and "explore new opportunities." Lucasfilm has wowed fans for years with their quality, style, and innovation in animation with animated series' like The Clone Wars and Rebels.

Since R2-D2 and C-3PO guided audiences into the Star Wars Universe back in 1977 with A New Hope, it's only fitting that they guide us into Lucasfilm's newest animation venture.
