The moment that was Spider-Man: No Way Home, saw three generations of Spider-Man fans come together for one Endgame level event. Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield were able to pay tribute to webheads everywhere who supported their on-screen characters throughout the years. 20 years of making Spider-Man movies led to an emotional and triumphant ode to one of the most beloved fictional characters of all time, Peter Parker.

This movie faced incredible expectations leading up to its much-anticipated release. Between rumors, leaks, trailers, and more, everyone who purchased a ticket had expectations for this Spider-Man super-movie.

The biggest expectation amongst audiences was Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield making their MCU debut and reprising their classic Spider-Man roles. By the time December 17th rolled around, it was less about Tobey and Andrew being in the movie or not, and more about how they did it.

And a recent update to the film from the TASM web-slinger himself, Andrew Garfield, gave fans a peek into the process of bringing back two legends into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And also how long both actors were on set

How Many Days Did Tobey Maguire Film on Spider-Man: No Way Home?

In an interview with Variety, Andrew Garfield confirmed that he and Tobey Maguire were on set  filming Spider-Man: No Way Home for "two weeks." Garfield believed that this allowed ample time to make their appearances more than a cameo or a "Hi! Bye!" situation.

"We were shooting for two weeks, Toby and I, but I think we managed to achieve something that is not just showing up and going, “Hi! Bye!” My Spider-Man got to save his younger brother’s romantic relationship, potentially."

Maguire and Garfield's characters share the screen together in virtually every scene they're in, so having them both there together for that period of time was crucial.

Tobey and Andrew appear at the beginning of the third act of No Way Home and contribute to the rest of the movie. In comparison, Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdock in a cameo for just one scene.

Spider-Men Done Right

The thought of bringing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back to join Tom Holland in an MCU multiverse Spider-Man spectacular sounds like a fever dream back in 2016, when Spider-Man first appeared in the MCU.

Now that dream is a reality and fans across the world have gotten what they may have not known they have wanted all this time. It is important to spend time to realize that this was not done just to do it. This monumental comic book movie moment was handled with care and with the passion of the fans in mind.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield spent two weeks working to make their appearance in this movie something fans could be proud of. Making sure these two were able to take that time and pay a meaningful contribution to this movie is something that makes this entry into the MCU truly special. And each Peter Parker was able to play a role in their unique way, which is really what fans have wanted all along.

Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man was able to step in and play that mentor role. Being the most seasoned vet of the trio, this not only made sense, but it gave so much depth to a character that fans have not seen on screen in almost 15 years. The lessons learned and the growth developed by Maguire's Peter Parker were used to help not only Tom Holland's Peter but Garfield's as well.

And Garfield was able to do what makes him so beloved by Spider-Man fans everywhere, emote. The performance by Andrew Garfield displaying this broken down, and beaten up Peter Parker who is searching for any form of redemption was special. This is the type of character element that makes these two more than just a cameo. This re-introduced a character that is STILL going through it and needs the experiences of No Way Home just as much as Tom Holland's Peter.

These are the behind-the-scenes things that make Andrew Garfield so beloved by Spider-Man fans. And the reason that there is a campaign to get him back in the suit for an extended period. Caring that his Peter got to redeem the Gwen Stacy tragedy with MJ. Knowing that a pop-in cameo would run fans the wrong way. And referring to Tom Holland's Peter Parker as his Peter Parker's little brother.

Never change Andrew Garfield. #MakeTASM3
