Spider-Man: No Way Home is rumored to bring together several different wallcrawlers, villains, and supporting characters from the franchise. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige even joked about this while simultaneously hinting at Alfred Molina's involvement in the Spider-Man threequel.
One character that many are hoping to see return is J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson, who made a grand re-appearance in the post-credits sequence of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The actor stated that he already filmed a scene for an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project, so there is a chance that Simmons could make his way into Spider-Man 3.
New toys based on No Way Home have provided some more concrete information about the movie, revealing that Peter Parker will be getting a brand new suit with golden plating. Strangely, the Sorceror Supreme seems to be donning regular clothing in a new Funko Pop! vinyl figure, with Doctor Strange also wearing the Eye of Agamotto once again.
Now, it seems that another merchandise reveal has suggested that one more character will be harassing Peter Parker during his third solo adventure...
J. JONAH JAMESON GETS HIS OWN FIGURE
Shared by Marvel Entertainment, a new figure based on J. Jonah Jameson has been revealed as part of Hasbro's Marvel Legends line of figures for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The character's inclusion in this toy line seems to indicate that Jameson will return for the Spider-Man threequel.
The figure matches J.K. Simmons' appearance as the character from Spider-Man: Far From Home, suggesting that he will carry over his previous look into the upcoming movie.
The figure sports impressive detail, matching Simmons' likeness near-perfectly and including wrinkles on the shirt and pronounced veins on Jameson's hands.
WILL J.K. SIMMONS BE IN NO WAY HOME?
While this could be evidence pointing towards J. Jonah Jameson's return in No Way Home, there is some evidence that could suggest otherwise.
Spider-Man: No Way Home's merchandise has been all over the place in terms of what it is based on, with products inspired by Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home releasing alongside this wave of sets. This could either mean that key characters from past MCU Spider-Man movies will return such as Vulture and Mysterio or that they may not be appearing at all.
However, as J.K. Simmons has already locked in another MCU appearance, there is a good chance that the Daily Bugle's raving media pundit may star alongside No Way Home's potentially stacked cast.
As Simmons' previous appearance was simply for a news bulletin for his publication, it is likely that an additional appearance for Jameson would take place similarly. Perhaps the reporter will continue his barrage of slander and misinformation about the webslinger, pumping out reports to sully Spider-Man's good name.
Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres exclusively in theaters on December 17, 2021.
