Peacemaker Season 2's Expected Release Window Revealed

When John Cena's Peacemaker first appeared in The Suicide Squad, it's safe to say that next to nobody thought he'd go on to be the lead of his own HBO Max series—let alone become the biggest show of 2022 so far. Yet, that's exactly what happened, and now the show has already gone on to get a second season renewal. Peacemaker itself may end up being more successful than the movie that came before it.

A greenlight for more of Cena's insane character isn't exactly surprising. Many fans already assumed more was going to be on the way eventually.

The big question is: when will that end up airing and releasing? After all, its writer and director James Gunn is neck-deep working on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Holiday Special, so his schedule is pretty full.

Well, now one of the big wigs at HBO Max itself has taken to Twitter and potentially revealed when they expect the show to return.

When Will Peacemaker Season 2 Premiere?

Luis Duran, a general manager at HBO Max, took to Twitter to celebrate the success of Peacemaker's first season while also teasing when the second will debut.

In responding to John Cena's excited social media, Duran commented how they "already know that S2 will be one of the great releases of next year," confirming that Peacemaker Season 2 is set for a 2023 release.

More Suicide Squad is Incoming

As James Gunn was working on The Suicide Squad, he made it clear how he wasn't going to be touching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 until his DC Comics projects was complete and in theaters.

If he keeps that same mindset, with Vol. 3 not releasing until next summer, the earliest work will begin on Peacemaker season 2 would be late summer or early fall of 2023. With this timeframe, a release next year will be challenging to achieve.

Obviously, work could begin on the second season much earlier—after all, not every situation is the same. Also, Gunn could have less involvement this time around, especially since he is working on another DC Comics television series with Warner Bros. Fans will just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
