Almost no actor in Hollywood has a resume quite like Kevin Bacon, who boasts nearly 100 credits on his resume over the past 40 years. Even outside of being the basis for how fans connect actors to actors in various projects thanks to the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game, his catalog of work is impressive in and of itself.

Bacon is, of course, best known for his memorable roles in fan-favorite '80s films like Footloose before moving into the '90s with memorable roles in Tremors and Apollo 13. The 21st century even allowed him to join the world of superhero movies with the villainous Sebastian Shaw in Fox's Marvel movie X-Men: First Class alongside James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence.

As for where Marvel is going with its new slate of films, fans are focused on development from James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which will be 2023's summer blockbuster outing. On top of everything that's already coming from that movie, fans may even get a little bit of Kevin Bacon, according to the recent rumor mill.

Reddit user u/CassandraOracle teased that Hollywood icon Kevin Bacon may have a role in an upcoming Marvel Studios entry from Phase 4.

According to the leak, on March 24 and 25. Marvel decorated a street in the Atlanta Country Club and made it look like Beverly Hills, California during Christmas for the filming of an upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy project.

The team filmed an undisclosed action sequence with a few nicked-up police cars, one of them being upside down with actors in the car. Gary Peebles, the stunt double for Drax, was reportedly on set hanging out, although it's unclear what he was doing in the scene.

Additionally, it was pointed out that Kevin Bacon specifically was on set for this Guardians project, which is either Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or Guardians of the Galaxy: The Holiday Special.

"A Great Hero Named Kevin Bacon"

Kevin Bacon has a unique history with the Marvel Cinematic Universe already after Peter Quill described him to Gamoa as "a great hero" when they were on Knowhere in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. She recalled the moment during the film's final battle as well, after crashing their ship into Ronan's Dark Aster to get the Power Stone.

This subsequently transferred into real life when Bacon shared his pleasant surprise to hear his name mentioned so directly in the movie. He also mentioned that he'd love to play a role in the franchise after having worked with Gunn on a movie prior to his debut in the MCU, and it appears that this may have finally come to fruition.

The big question now is how big Bacon's role will be and where exactly he will show up within the MCU.

Along with Vol. 3, Gunn is filming the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. which could indicate that Bacon has a role in the upcoming Disney+ entry focused on the galactic misfits. Whether he shows up there or in Vol. 3, the simple fact that he may join the MCU adds yet another round of star power to this constantly expanding narrative.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to release in theaters on May 5, 2023. The Holiday Special will arrive on Disney+ by the end of 2022.
