Even with plenty of exciting material still to come from the MCU before the end of the year, Marvel fans are still riding the high of the latest Marvel Studios theatrical release, Eternals. Featuring one of the biggest ensemble casts in any solo movie ever from the MCU (at least, until Spider-Man: No Way Home releases), this cosmic outing added a new layer of storytelling to the franchise's ever-growing narrative.
While the film took place entirely on Earth, Marvel's race of immortal beings thoroughly explained their history, which included their Celestial-based origin story and eventual mission on which they turned their backs. In the end, though, the Eternals found a way to save Earth and keep their own lives intact, except there's now an enormous Celestial head and arm protruding from the ocean.
As is the case with every MCU movie, fans were on the edge of their seats waiting for what Marvel Studios would deliver in the movie's post-credits scenes, which kicked off with a callback to the Infinity Saga's biggest of bad guys, Thanos.
In that scene, three of the Eternals found themselves in the presence of Harry Styles, who received a grand introduction as Eros, aka Starfox, aka the brother of Thanos.
Now, with the film having been in theaters for two full weeks, Marvel is capitalizing on Styles' appearance in the movie for its marketing campaign.
Marvel Unveils Harry Styles' Eternals Character, Eros
Marvel Studios' official Twitter page unveiled a new poster featuring Harry Styles' character, Eros, from the mid-credits scene of Eternals. Included was a caption with all of the names used in the announcement from Patton Oswalt's Pip the Troll in Starfox's introduction:
"Meet the Royal Prince of Titan, brother of Thanos, the Knave of Hearts, defeater of Black Roger, the great adventurer, Starfox"
Thanos' Brother Takes the MCU Spotlight
Harry Styles made an immediate impact on the MCU with his arrival as he took on one of the most powerful new cosmic characters in the franchise. As a full-blooded Eternal with a familial tie to the most iconic villain in MCU history, Thanos' brother came into Eternals with quite a bang as he boarded the Domo and introduced himself to the movie's core team.
Having avoided the Deviant Syndrome that Thanos got from their parents in the comics, Styles' Eros is known as the lover of all lovers throughout the cosmos. Possessing many of the same abilities as the other Eternals, Eros is also blessed with the power to simulate other peoples' pleasure centers and can go as far as making people fall in love with him, turning him into the ultimate galactic playboy.
Although Eros only had a short amount of screen time in Eternals' mid-credits scene, his presence is a game-changer after his bigger purple brother met his dramatic end in Avengers: Endgame.
Of course, there are no signs pointing to when Styles will make his first full appearance as Eros, what with Will Poulter's Adam Warlock already in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and other galactic outings like Thor: Love and Thunder already packed to the gills. Whenever that comes, however, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
Eternals is now playing in theaters worldwide.
