While Eternals introduced a new group of cosmic heroes into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film also paved the way for the debut of a mystical hero in the form of Kit Harington's Dane Whitman

As Marvel Comics fans know, Whitman is poised to become the legendary Black Knight at some point, but Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore confirmed that the character's transition will not happen in the film.

Instead, the film's promotional drive showed that Whitman will have a romantic bond with Gemma Chan's Sersi, with the actor teasing the "very cool"  interactions that he has with the rest of the Eternals in the movie. Still, Harington is still featured prominently in several trailers and promos, and this could be Marvel's way of saying that the actor has a bright MCU future ahead.

Now, as Eternals premieres in theaters worldwide, a new promotional image dedicated to Harington's Marvel character has been released.

It's fitting that Kit Harington's Dane Whitman is receiving the character poster treatment, especially after being left out of the initial Eternals promotional image release.

The poster doesn't offer much, but there's a sense that Marvel Studios crafted the image to highlight Whitman's upcoming future as Black Knight

For those unaware, Whitman's power in the comics came from a legendary sword in the form of the Ebony Blade.

This enchanted weapon can cut through any substance due to its magical properties, but there's a catch. The Ebony Blade causes a negative effect on the wielder due to its blood curse, transforming Whitman into a serial killer at one point.

Despite that, Whitman found a way to resist the curse, turning Black Knight into a full-fledged hero. In addition, the sword-wielding character also served as a member of the Avengers, and he even became the team's leader down the line.

These intriguing tidbits alone constitute a significant hint of Harington's MCU future, and without giving anything away, Eternals grandly solidified his heroic fate.

Eternals is now playing in theaters in most territories worldwide.
