Marvel Studios' time-travel crime thriller Loki has proven to be a viral hit among audiences through its first four episodes. After plenty of twists and turns across the series' opening half, the latest episode certainly resulted in some of the biggest twists yet, from surprise appearances to shock reveals.
With only two days to go before the penultimate installment debuts on Disney+, a selection of images from the latest episode have been officially released, highlighting some of the its biggest moments.
NEW LOKI IMAGES HIGHLIGHT KEY SCENES
As Loki Episode 5 nears its premiere, Disney has released several new stills from the story's latest shocking chapter, “The Nexus Event.”
One of the episode's many big surprises came in the unexpected return of Jaimie Alexander's infamous warrior hero, Lady Sif, in a hilarious scene that saw Loki relive a painful memory on loop in the TVA's Time Cell. “The Nexus Event” marked Sif's first MCU appearance since 2014's Thor: The Dark World.
A second still showcased Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie outside the TVA's Time Theater 25 after being captured from the apocalyptic destruction of Lamentus-1 with Loki.
Additionally, a series of officially released screenshots highlighted the final moments of the series' fourth episode which finally saw the debut of the Time-Keepers.
The climactic scene saw Loki and Sylvie brought face-to-face with the Time-Keepers at the mercy of Judge Renslayer.
Unfortunately, Loki's long-awaited sit-down with the infamous protectors of the Sacred Timeline didn't quite go to plan as they immediately ordered the deletion of the Asgardian variants.
After the heroic arrival of Hunter B-15 and a grand showdown with Renslayer, Sylvie's decapitation of a Time-Keeper confirmed that the trio were androids all along, leaving the question: who created the TVA?
WHAT COMES NEXT AFTER THAT ENDING?
Loki's fourth episode was a winding path of twists, turns, and surprises from beginning to end. After leaving fans on a massive cliffhanger to one of the series' best episodes yet, writer Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron have left themselves a high standard to live up to going into the penultimate chapter.
With Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief surrounded by other Loki Variants in a mysterious dimension, while Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie has the villainous Judge Renslayer captive, there's certainly plenty of questions to answer.
Additionally, after introducing Boastful Loki, Kid Loki, Alligator Loki, and Richard E. Grant's Classic Loki, the series has plenty of new characters to establish before the climactic showdown with the TVA.
With a game-changing fourth chapter now in the rearview mirror as the Disney+ series approaches its second-to-last episode, anticipation among fans appears to be at an all-time high going into the fifth episode.
But for now, the first four episodes of Loki are streaming now, exclusively on Disney+. Episode 5 will debut on Wednesday, July 7.
