Loki is shaping up to be a major player to change the landscape of the MCU, and the latest episode proved that.

After narrowly escaping the TVA in the second episode, Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie were forced to work together to try and survive the apocalyptic event in Lamentis-1, but the odds were stacked against the runaway pair when fans last saw them.

The fourth episode entitled "The Nexus Event" showcased major developments like showing the fate of the titular tricksters as well as revealing the mysterious inner workings of the TVA. Throughout the episode, Loki tried to persuade Owen Wilson's Mobius that the TVA is lying to him, eventually leading to a tense confrontation between him and his friend, Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Ravonna Renslayer

Thankfully, Mobius finally realized that Endgame Loki was telling the truth, but he was pruned at the last minute by the TVA's Minutemen. The MCU's God of Mischief and Sylvie ultimately landed a face-to-face with the Time-Keepers, and, as expected, this led to a brutal action sequence.

It was revealed that the Time-Keepers are just mere androids who are being controlled by someone far more dangerous. The episode ended on a shocking cliffhanger, with Renslayer successfully pruning Loki from existence, but the mid-credits scene proved that the Asgardian is still alive somewhere alongside his other Variants.

Now, to celebrate the release of the episode, a new set of images has surfaced online.

WHO'S BEHIND THE TVA?

This batch of stills from the episode is a fitting reminder of how mind-blowing the latest Loki installment is.

The apparent death of Mobius in the episode is not entirely final, especially after it was shown that Loki is still alive somewhere in the timeline alongside his fellow Variants. In addition, it looks like Sylvie and Renslayer will be having an intense chat in the next episode, and this could be the time when the history of the TVA will finally be unveiled.

After seeing the episode, many would agree that the lingering question is the individual behind the Time Variance Authority. From the get-go, it's been clear that something is off with the Time-Keepers, and this latest episode essentially confirmed everyone's doubts about the matter.

It's possible that Kang the Conqueror is the one pulling the strings from behind, and Ravonna Renslayer's continued loyalty to him could cement this idea. For context, in the pages of Marvel Comics, Renslayer and Kang have a romantic history, and the MCU could easily adapt this storyline in live-action.

The ramifications of the latest reveal will definitely be felt across other MCU projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and this goes to show how interconnected this superhero franchise really is.

The first four episodes of Loki are now streaming on Disney+.
