After three years of rumblings and rumors, Zack Snyder fans got their wish when HBO Max announced a remastered director's cut of Justice League would be coming to the streaming service.

While it remains to be seen how much of a success the four-hour epic was, Warner Bros. has made clear that they are moving forward with its DCEU without Snyder.

Even if the Snyder side of the DCEU has been laid to rest, Warner Bros. is still making efforts to honor all the work the polarizing director put into its films.

SNYDER CUT COMES TO BLU-RAY AND 4K

Physical media lives on.

Coupled with a short teaser from the film, the director himself announced that Zack Snyder's Justice League is coming to Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on September 7, 2021.

The teaser can be seen in the tweet below:

IMMORTALIZING ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE VISION

Considering the buzz around the Snyder Cut when it dropped, it's hard to imagine a world where HBO Max would ever take the remastered film off the streaming service. That said, giving Zack Snyder's Justice League a physical media release certifies that it will truly live forever.

A Blu-ray release has been rumored since January; however, those rumblings suggested a March 2021 physical drop. This would've seen the film go to stores shortly after or even on the same day as the HBO Max release. Those plans pivoted to a more traditional rollout, as September will mark nearly six months after the cut debuted on HBO Max, which is an industry-standard timetable.

The real winners here are the fans. It's no secret that physical media has been dying over the past decade, and with streaming services at all-time popularity, many studios don't see the value in releasing projects on DVD. Most theatrical pictures end up on Blu-ray and 4K, but it is becoming rarer and rarer for streaming originals to make a jump to the disc.

Recent reports have suggested Marvel Studios' Disney+ originals like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would live exclusively on the streaming service, as the House of Mouse does not have any plans to release its MCU shows on physical media. Just about every fan who's interested in those projects watched them week-to-week on Disney+, but those who own the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe on Blu-ray will now have their collection incomplete.

Lucky for SnyderVerse fans, the entire DCEU under the fan-favorite director can be purchased on physical media.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is streaming now on HBO Max and will be available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on September 7, 2021.
