The marketing for Zack Snyder's Justice League is kicking into high gear, considering that the film will arrive next month. The famous director's cut experienced a lot of ups and downs over the past few years, with some fans even claiming that it didn't exist.

Luckily, they were proven wrong after it was officially announced last May that the Snyder Cut will premiere on HBO Max. From that point on, Snyder didn't waste time in revealing numerous tidbits about his Justice League , ranging from never-before-seen moments to behind-the-scenes stories that helped viewers understand the process of building his cut.

One of the interesting reveals from the director was the surprise inclusion of Jared Leto's Joker . The exact role of the villain is unknown, but it was previously hinted that he will play a major part in the film's Knightmare sequence . Now, a fresh look at the villain has emerged, coming straight from Snyder himself.

A MORE DANGEROUS JOKER IN THE SNYDER CUT

Zack Snyder, through Vanity Fair , officially unveiled the first full look at Jared Leto's Joker in Zack Snyder's Justice League .

A closer look at the Clown Prince of Crime was also showcased, featuring a menacing look at the villain in the Knightmare timeline.

Alongside the reveal, Snyder explained that “it was always [his] intention” to bring Joker into his Justice League :

“The Joker is really the only thing that I thought of in retrospect. But I will say that it was always my intention to bring Joker into that world.”

Based on the image, the Joker can be seen wearing a hospital gown and a surgical mask. The visionary director pointed out that it is “probably a remnant of his escape into the wild when the world fell.”

It was also bared in the interview that the villain will wear a “bulletproof vest festooned with grimy law enforcement badges,” with Snyder admitting that “those are his trophies:”

“He has tons of badges. Those are his trophies.”

JOKER'S PLACE IN AN APOCALYPTIC DCEU

Snyder previously revealed that Joker will debut a brand new look in his Justice League , describing the character as a “road-weary Joker.” The images above essentially fulfill that description, and the villain's story will be a must-see when the film is released next month.

It was already established that the Knightmare sequence will be set in a world where the heroes lost against Darkseid, but an intriguing plot point on how the villains thrived in the aftermath is still a missing piece of the narrative. That said, Joker is poised to give viewers a firsthand look at the state of the world in the eyes of criminals and outlaws.

Snyder's comment about bringing Joker into his Justice League as the plan from the get-go should provide a clue on how his DCEU would've turned out if plans aligned. Theoretically, it's possible that the villain will play a larger role in a potential Justice League sequel, ultimately leading to the character's state in the Knightmare sequence.

Another interesting takeaway from Snyder is the fact that Joker will also wear a bulletproof vest with numerous police badges attached. It remains to be seen if the backstory of how this costume came to be will be addressed, but there's a strong chance that the Joker will wear this to mock Ben Affleck's Batman during their confirmed encounter.

Whatever the case, this new batch of images of Joker will no doubt dial up the hype even further for Zack Snyder's Justice League .
