For those who haven't seen the recent news, Ryan Reynolds just broke the internet by announcing that Deadpool 3 would bring back Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine one last time. Needless to say, the world is excited by the prospect of seeing those two properly share the screen together for the first time.
It makes sense that Reynolds would want Jackman to join him for his threequel. The star has always wanted to see Wolverine and Deadpool team up and never got the chance to do so in the Fox-produced universe.
This news also fits with the recent rumor that Marvel Studios cannot cast their own takes on Fox's former mutants until their contracts run out in 2025. But, the company can have the old actors return to play the same characters—a la Patrick Stewart as Professor X.
Now, an unexpected face has reacted to the exciting news: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' John Krasinski, aka, Earth-838's Reed Richards.
Krasinski Reacts To Deadpool 3
John Krasinski took to Twitter to react to the shocking Deadpool 3 news revealed earlier today, which announced that Hugh Jackman would be joining Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming threequel, once again portraying his iconic role of Wolverine.
While quoting the tweet, Krasinski simply questioned, "wait... is this our movie?"
Many might be confused by the sentiment, and that's understandable. The necessary context, however, is that Krasinski is directing and starring in a project with Ryan Reynolds titled Imaginary Friends.
Not only is that movie set to release in 2024 as well, but it is currently in production right now. Maybe the Deadpool 3 announcement video was even filmed using that project's sets!
Logan star Hugh Jackman also offered a couple of words: "Yeah, sure."
The director of Deadpool 3, Shawn Levy himself, shyly responded to the news with: "so, ummmmm... yeah."
He continued on to thank Netflix's Stranger Things for "training [him] to keep [his] mouth shut:"
"I want to take [a] minute to thank #StrangerThings for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now."
Levy also responded to Krasinski's question, noting, "sorry JK, this one's all mine."
Maybe Reed Richards Can Tag Along Too?
Sure, there is every chance in the world that this is just a fun reaction from John Krasinski and he's not involved in Deadpool 3 at all. In fact, not only is this most likely just in good fun but also purposeful in order to stir up some fun conversation amongst fans.
But imagine how much fun it would be to see Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and John Krasinski portraying their Multiversal characters on screen together. That situation sounds like it would be endlessly exciting, and it would truly be a thrill from start to finish.
Hopefully, at the very least, Krasinski is able to return to the MCU at some point. If not in the role of Reed Richards, then someone equally important. He's an extremely talented actor who would only serve to strengthen the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters on September 6, 2024.
