Matt Reeves' The Batman isn't the only DC film bringing the Caped Crusader to the big screen next year.
The Flash starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen looks to usher in the DC multiverse as the Scarlet Speedster won't only face a darker version of himself, but also Ben Affleck's and Michael Keaton's versions of Batman.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, Barry Allen's long-awaited solo film looks to follow the "Flashpoint" comic book storyline, meaning fans will see the hero flashing through time as well as universes; and apparently, the film intends to visit Allen's own past as well.
YOUNG FLASH ACTOR SHARES ON-SET PHOTO
Actor Ian Loh, who plays a young Barry Allen, posted an on-set photo of himself with The Flash's director Andy Muschietti on Instagram to celebrate the director's birthday.
Loh captioned the photo saying, "Happy Birthday Andy ilysm!"
Not only does the photo show a look at Loh as young Barry Allen, but also what his character enjoyed while growing up in the late '90s and early 2000s.
The Warner Bros. posters of Cats and Dogs, Looney Toons: Back in Action, and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed are a particularly fun throwback. Although, just how much audiences will see of Loh as Barry Allen, and what looks to be his childhood room is unknown, as much of the film's plot is still being kept under wraps.
HE GREW UP IN A FLASH
Since The Flash involves various versions of Barry Allen and time travel, seeing his character at a different age and point in time only seems appropriate. It also reinforces the fact that The Flash is the Scarlet Speedster's movie, even though much of the hype has centered on the film's multiple Batmen and other DC heroes.
While the old movie posters were a fun touch, other details in what appears to be Barry's room are likely intentional and maybe even foreshadowing?
For instance, could the outer space wallpaper and space shuttle curtains be a hint at the character traveling to different universes? Also, while the skateboard, rollerblades, and various pairs of shoes are probably a nod to his speed, it's worth noting that one of the bins on the shelf is covered in Batman-esque masks.
Fans are sure to learn more about The Flash from Andy Muschietti, and possibly get a teaser or trailer, during the next DC FanDome event on October 16, 2021.
The Flash is set to release in theaters on November 4, 2022.
